If you want to switch to Austria that would be awesome. Check it out in the stats once i will put them up, download the save to look at it more closely if you wish. Having an Austria is definitely of utmost importance to the game. And one session ghosted is not that bad, really. People get ghosted all the time. And besides, i ghosted it on infra, at the consensus of all the other players, so it should have some research plus some cash for the next session. Additional edits you might require include some (2, i think) DP clicks and probable events that might have been missed, plus whatever you want to request.

As co-GM, and at the request of all present yesterday, i would like very much to introduce an on-time cookie for those present at precisely 22 GMT in the game, a cookie consisting of:

1% deflation OR
a stategift* OR
-2 BB points

Also, should be introduced a penalty for those that are late (more than 20 minutes) or do not show up without giving notice: a 1% inflation sounds about right.

*stategift as follows:
-up to 1600: 500 cash
-up to 1700: 750 cash
-up to 1819: 1000 cash

Ontime cookie should be chosed by Wednesday 22 GMT, to give time to the editor to edit it in.

GM should appoint an editor.

Yeah, Portugal is out of the picture for me. I don't blame you though for taking those CoT's though, and I'm looking forward to what the OE are going to do this game.

If the sub doesn't want to take Austria, I'll take it. If he does take Austria, that's fine too. When the Netherlands forms, I wouldn't mind picking them up, assuming that is ok with all of the other playes. Also if some edits were given to the Mughals I wouldn't mind trying to unite India and serve as a ally to the powerful OE. It's really up to all of you guys. Whatever country you think needs to be played, just let me know. Though I admit I'm abit discouraged about missing last session, it was totally my fault. I should have been checking the forums.

Having said that, if you feel the game is going fine as it is, just let me know. I'll be around to sub for sure, and I think this will end up being a great game.

I would love to take Austria if I were assured that it was playable. Sessions can be ghosted later on, but when the first two sessions of a country are ghosted they have a HUGE disadvantage. Alek wasn't playing serious first session, so Austria didn't expand in anyway. Hungary wasn't in an alliance with Austria last time I checked, so that could mess with the inheritance of Hungary if Uls decides to declare war on Hungary prior to Austria's inheritance. The Alliance seemed pretty fragile as well, in terms of a central alliance. No CoT, obviously no trading(though trading with Austria is hard anyway) and no expansion while the other countries were allowed to expand. I don't think that edits can make up for the two sessions being missed.

Having said that, I think with the Netherlands I would have a much greater chance of success. If you think there is a chance with Austria(which I don't) I wouldn't mind taking them. The problem is, Austria should have kept you in check from the start. Your rapid expansion and looting has allowed your country to become very powerful. As soon as you were embroiled in wars, it would be wise for a Bohemian/Hungarian/Austrian/Bavarian alliance to have declared war. Also Uls has been allowed to expand without the threat of a central alliance, allowing him to focus more fully on taking out Muslim countries and grabbing valuable CoT.


As you said, playing with a country that's not yours, and where you know you would have done many things different is no fun. Missing those first two sessions with Austria makes it unplayable. I think the Netherlands would be a better choice for me, but probably not in balancing the game. If there is no Austria, Poland will absorb all of Germany. But if there is Austria, it will remain a minor power for the rest of the game. So it's a dilemma. Choose NL and enjoy 50 years of peace before Poland reaches my doorstep or pick Austria and be constantly in the shadows of a powerful Poland. Hrmmmm

I agree with many of your points. I suggest putting 3k or 4k coins into austrian treasury, that'd be enough for them to develop a strong position in Europe (if it's well managed of course).

However there're some exaggerations about Poland and Oe. Poland is strong, true, but it's got a weak economy yet, and consider the fact they have few cores and wrong culture in many of their soils.

About Oe, I'm well aware they're very powerful, but I've never considered in taking Hungary that early as you state, well, I won't lie about it, I of course would like to have some of Hungary, but having it all it'd be harmful for my economy and stability. Thus I DO think Austria's got chances in preparing themselves against OE and many other countries.

2nd: why do you want a weak Poland? you don't have to make Poland an enemy, I DO think Poland can make very good synergies with Austria, don't open many fronts, it's dangerous even for powerful countries.

My suggestion: take compensations, play and see what happens, if you're not convinced, then you just have to wait for NL to be realised. Nevertheless you'd be playing with us, consequently, having fun. it's a win-win game for you.

Wow, just looked at France. I have to say, I don't think that 3k ducats would even come close to compensating for the period of idleness that Austria had. OE was allowed to rapidly expand acquiring 5 CoT, France able to expand rapidly grabbing rich Italian provinces. I think I'll just take NL if that would be ok with you guys
