Recommended Music

The new music is great, but in a game that will be played dozens and hundreds of hours, at some point the music will get old. So i tought we could post some recommendations of alternatives.

AncientFM is a very good netradio with authentic medieval music from all parts of europe and even some oriental tracks.

"Music of the Troubadours" by Ensemble Unicorn is a compilation of... music of the troubadours, duh! Very much recommended, their rendition of "Lanqand li jorn" by Jaufre Rudel is amazing.

"Melodious Melancholye" by Ensemble Belladonna focuses on early english music, stuff like "Miri it is" etc. Very nice!

Choral Music Radio is a pretty solid station on Pandora for that medieval monastic feel. Hey even lords attended church! Russian Orthodox Chant Radio is, well, the eastern European counterpart to my first recommendation.

Great idea! How hard is it to play this music in the background whilst playing the game?

Really easy. Just turn the in-game music to 0 and have something playing music in the background (iTunes, Pandora, Spotify, etc). You still get all the in-game notifications and such, they're on a separate slider.

EU2 soundtrack beats almost anything. The whole CD of Joculatores Upsaliensis (Woods, Women and Wine) used in EU2 is adequate for CK2, and it is available here.

Very much recommended, their rendition of "Lanqand li jorn" by Jaufre Rudel is amazing.

It's OK, very expressive, but Maria Lafitte is not that much fitted for the job. It shouldn't be sung by women anyhow.

Most ensembles butcher the pronunciation. I'd recommended The Troubadours Art Ensemble (Gérard Zuchetto's), Gérard le Vot, Brice Duisit, some releases of the Clemencic Consort (such as "Troubadours", a gem), the Boston Camerata, the Ensemble Perceval as the most accurate. There are other very skilled ensembles but they use to perform better with other genres.

Or the Byzantine/Old Roman/Beneventan/Ambrosian records of the Ensemble Organum and the Greek Byzantine Choir's ones (Lycourgos Angelopoulos's ensemble).
