Well, that reminds me of a lol episode I had yesterday as the Thirteen Colonies. I am the Thirteen Colonies. I eventually enter into a war for independence against GB....up pops the USA tag in most of my provinces. I swear if I got USA rebels while at war against GB for independence I woulda thrown my PC outoff the window.

Is there any content DLC that is less popular than American Dream? I doubt it. Why? Because it malfunctioned for a long time with a player-created USA. It took you months to finally make at least some of the American DLC content compatible with a player-created DLC.

Case in point of people continuing to believe propaganda long after it's been debunked.

You could actually have argued based on the (very) vague description that there was an issue in case you expected the DLC to work another way. But yeah waste of time to debate on a forum if an issue existed when if it existed it has been fixed.

To be fair expecting all the DLC's to be fully compatible with each other is not exactly unreasonable. American Dream really only worked with 1 bookmark (which to be fair could also be said about Purple Phoenix, but PP is the most played start date).

Respectfully, I believe a bit of the anger also came from the fact that the American and Federal Republics were removed.

Actually the anger is much older and has little to do with the removal of those republics. Back then, the DLC did not work properly with a player created USA; the DLC only worked well in the bookmark it was intended for.

Of course, removing a DLC feature like those government forms is not a nice move but PDX also removed other government forms like the Austrian Archduchy.

While I am aware that the anger existed before that, removing features that were some of the primary reasons people paid money for it didn't really help. Archduchy was justified since it could be simulated with Gov. Ranks, but the American Republic was indeed a very unique Gov. Type. Not to mention England has the English Monarchy.

Agreed :)
Just wanted to say that the anger existed before PDX felt the need to remove features from the DLC with patch 1.12.

(It was never broken to begin with, some additional functionality was added for it to work with Colonial Nation-formed USA but the absence of such functionality did not at any point make it broken.)
I suppose "broken" is subjective. But you appear to be suggesting that the DLC never had any problems. That isn't the case.

In fact that there were problems with the event chains from 1.4, which weren't addressed for many patches. Clearly that qualified as "broken" in many people's minds. The DLC, after all, is essentially a collection of events. Whether or not you believe that the DLC should have been fully compatible with CoP, many of your customers did.

It's really just a piece of anti-DLC propaganda that happened to catch on after the release of CoP, and since it was never reality-based in the first place certain people continue to believe it.
To suggest that there is some sort of anti-DLC propaganda starts out as sounding a bit paranoid. Further suggesting that people's concerns were not reality-based is not merely dismissive, it implies a fairly non-standard definition of reality.

Implying that legitimate criticisms of American Dream amounts to fact-free propaganda is the closest thing I've seen to fact-free propaganda, today.*

*Though, admittedly, I haven't watched the "news", yet, today.

The reasonable "anger" (it's a bit too strong of a word) about American Dream is that it only applies in very late games, in very specific scenarios. It's not a part of most games. It didn't work with a player created USA, no, but it wasn't initially designed to. And that got fixed. If that was the biggest problem, then there should be no problems with AD right now.
To suggest that there is some sort of anti-DLC propaganda starts out as sounding a bit paranoid. Further suggesting that people's concerns were not reality-based is not merely dismissive, it implies a fairly non-standard definition of reality.
There is plenty of anti-DLC people. PDS is very unique about people being willing to tolerate large amounts of DLC. Most other games, people hate the idea of it being brought up. And when a PDS DLC falls short, it gets ridiculous amounts of hate. The forums are definitely the most toxic right after a new DLC, with people hating how X or Y is implemented, and demanding that it be fixed as they payed money for it.

Some people just want to express their discontent, isn't what paradox expect from us, feedbacks ? Every week i come here and i discover that one of my favorite game is gonna have more content, this why i've played 2k hours on it and why i've bought almost every thing paraodx made wtihout reading any reviews. Why ? Because now i know they are investments. They are reworking Cop, excellent ! i certainly would buy any futher extension, just because i like those guys and they care about our feedbacks even if they didn't respond to my appliance. :(

If you want my opinion American Dream is not the best expansion, but just because it adds content, i'm glad that i bought it. I would certainly like a little rework but i would rather have new stuffs aswell and i won't complain about it.

To quickly respond to the topic :
1 Art of war : ( the needed one )
  • Religious league. +++ ( really improve the mid game )
  • Revolution + ( a late game improvment but doesn't trigger often)
  • New Fleet orders ++
  • Marches ++ (make sens after liberty desire addition )
  • Improved Diplomacy (Allies and vassals interactions ) +++ ( even if the vassal objective shoudl definitly be checked because sometimes it does immediatly work )
  • Army builder and automatic transport ++ ( i think that was free but god that was good )
2 Commun Sens ( just excellent )
  • New mechanics for Protestants +++ and Buddhists (i've not played yet with it but i'm affraid i won't like the gameplay of it )
  • Devotion ++
  • Subject Interactions ++
  • Parliament + (if you like playing great britain)
  • Provincial Improvements ++
  • Free Cities of the HRE ++
  • Government Ranks ++
  • National Focus ++ ( can't play without now )
3 Res publica ( republic, dutch and polish love, just because i love to play as netherlands )
  • Republican Dictatorship +
  • New Faction and republic events ++ ( a lot of events )
  • Dutch Republics ++
  • Polish events ++
  • National Focus ++ ( can't play without now )
New Idea Groups +++ ( i don't remember if that was free, i think so but this was one of my favorite changes)

4 El dorado ( exploration and mesoamerican love, very hard gameplay)
  • Nation Designer +++ ( excellent in multiplayer with your friends )
  • Nahuatl, Inti and Mayan religions ++
  • Conquistador love ++
  • Gold Fleets +
  • Privating + ( very useful to get power projection )
  • Treaty of Tordesillas. +
  • mesoamerican events ++
5 Conquest of Paradise ( portugues, spanish and american love , going to be update thanks to the feedbacks and Wiz )
  • Randomized New World + ( i hope it gonna be a ++++ )
  • Colonial Nations ++
  • Manage colonies +
  • Expanded Native American gameplay +++ ( i had a few good games with )
  • Colonial events ++
6 Wealth of the Nations ( indian love and venitian love )
  • Trade conflicts and new diplomatic options ++
  • Privating + ( very useful to get power projection )
  • Trade capital +
  • Establish East India Companies + ( i hope they will add more gameplay around it, great potential )
  • Canals + ( too expansive )
  • Indian diety and events ++ ( quite fun in fact )
  • Reform religion ++
The forgotten ones : Phoenix rise 7 ( byzantine love only if you want to play them personnally i like it ) American dream 8 ( late game events )

PS : i apologize for my english, i'm french. I recommend all of them but not all at once.
I would start with 1 and 2. Then depending on which nation you wonna play the rest of them. El dorado is a good investment if feel bored to play the game but you still want to play with it.
Metascore you failed this is a 95

The problem is that they took away that unique gov and now you can only get it if you achieve a high enough rank. if you do not own the DLC, you can not do this. i would of rather they left it as is unless you own CS. Of course that would have other issues as well. One being that without the DLC, you are "king" rank where as the HRE with it is a "duchy". That would mean you are being nerfed for owning CS unless they balanced it accordingly. and tbh, if the ranks only made it better with duchy having the old stats, then that would be fine imo.(the ranking system in the HRE itself makes for a good debate) it would fall in the same category as support independence where you can live without it(in most cases anyways) but having the dlc makes it better. it only improves as to what is already there. not taking away something then needing to pay to get it back. same goes for any other gov type that was taken away because of the new feature.

Most of the DLC are great, except El Dorado. I never wanna use the natino designer, so it is useless for me. But this is the great feature of this expansion. Also other features arent great. New religion for mayan / incan region. Doesnt matter unless you play as such nation (most dont). Some feature for colonizing (which is still boring for me). So i dont like the expansion.

El Dorado is in my opinion far better than Conquest of Paradise.

Sorry to have inadvertently started a bunch of questioning of "The American Dream"

Only by those who either don't live in America or those who do not have a dream in America that they are pursuing.

There is no question about the American Dream. It's real and I've lived it. :)

Unless we are still discussing DLC's, in which case I really don't have an opinion yet. I've purchased a bunch of 'em but haven't played 'em yet.
