@Aliasing: You would think Israel could survive, but I am not so sure. Out of curiosity I loaded up as Israel and just for fun I DOW'd the ECON bloc and a couple other arab states that I wanted to join the group but had not done so yet.....Israel fell within about 3 weeks.
@Hepzibah3: I don't understand why you seem to keep on bringing up Germany as if they alone could save Europe from Russia. The modern world is not like the early 20th century where Germany was a world power. Germany is a reduced middle power with an underfunded military that is fully dependent on close operations with its allies to be able to succeed. To be frank, the Germans do not really impress me very much in this game. They have less troops than the British do, and only have about equal IC to the British as well. The Russians have a huge and powerful army plus airforces with the ability to pound the Germans into the ground with little effort if they use them properly. Germany is NOT going to be some kind of saviour, not without the help of its very strong western and central European allies.
@TemplarComander: I did not change any AI scripting to have the AI build units. I found that the AI performed very well when I installed the mod. The only alterations I have been making for the AI are in some areas of build priorities and in alliance building.
@Sethanon: I am pretty sure I have said this before and I will say it again. This AAR is dead
only when I say so. I really do not want to see people coming into this thread asking if this is dead or not. Working on this AAR takes a lot of time and effort, so if there is a lull between updates that means I am working on trying to fix a problem or something like that. I want people to be patient, updates come when I decide i have enough material to make one.
@everyone else: Thanks for the comments.
Morocco becomes the latest country to join the Iranian led ECON bloc. With this development, ECON now stretches all the way to the Atlantic ocean. Spanish forces in the small enclaves of Cueta and Melilla are put on a higher combat alert status, knowing that if war erupts against ECON, Morocco will most certainly move to claim both regions, seen by Morocco as part of its rightful territory.
In Eastern Asia, the government of Taiwan makes its declaration of independence official in all areas, declaring themselves a distinct country completely separate from any ties with the Peoples Republic of China across the strait. Several countries recognize Taiwan as an independent state very soon afterwards, with more, including the USA, possibly soon to follow. China meanwhile, is furious at this development.
The Chinese politburo holds an emergency cabinet meeting in Beijing to discuss options. Under China's anti-secession law, a declaration of Taiwanese independence is interpreted as an act of war against the Chinese state. With all diplomatic options seemingly exhausted, the Chinese are left with their last, most devastating card to play: the military option.
Back in North Africa, the new government of Algeria joins ECON. Governments in Southern Europe are becoming more and more on edge due to the expansion of ECON into North Africa, responding to such developments with increased air and naval patrols of French, Italian, Spanish, and other NATO military forces. Patriot missile batteries are even set up in places like Sicily and Corsica, to counter the threat of possible ECON ballistic missile attacks on southern European cities.
Meanwhile, the SCO is beginning to prepare for war. Chinese, Russian, and other SCO military and political leaders meet in Astana, the former Kazakh capital and now the administrative center for the Russian Kazakh Semi-autonomous Federal Republic, to go over military plans. Information out of the meeting is not easy to piece together, but intelligence reports suggest that the Chinese have been able to convince their allies to go ahead with the Chinese military plan of action. All over the SCO, national governments are starting to call up their reservists and stage large scale military drills. It is expected that SCO preparations for war will possibly be completed no later than May, 2009.
In North Africa, Libya, under the rule of long time military dictator Muammar Gaddafi, joins ECON. Libyan entry into ECON now leaves Tunisia as the last country in North Africa to not join the group.
While ECON grows and the SCO prepares, Japan is also preparing itself for war. The latest manifestation of Japanese preparations for conflict come with the completion of 6 brand new nuclear powered aircraft carriers, which after about two and a half years of construction are now finally ready for service.
The 6 brand new aircraft carriers are assigned to lead Japan's new 1st Carrier Strike Force, under the command of Admiral Yamamoto. The new Japanese vessels carry names not heard of since the days of the Second World War. Now, almost 70 years after the end of that conflict, carriers by the names of
Kaga,
Akagi,
Soryu, etc, roam the oceans of the pacific once more. In one stroke, Japan has now become the dominant naval power in East Asia. Japan's rivals do not possess anywhere near the kind of firepower and force projection these carriers give the Japanese fleet. The new vessels are sent on a shakedown cruise with the rest of their fleet around the Japanese home islands, to show the Japanese people the might of their new navy.

Back in the Middle East, the Iranians are preparing to take part in a very dangerous gamble. Although many of the old, American allied regimes in the Middle East have toppled, others have been able to remain in power. However, they maintain their grip only with massive repression, and are thought to be only a few small steps away from finally toppling. To help give the people's of these nations a boost in their struggles for liberation, Iran and its allies are preparing to send intelligence agents and badly needed resources to various islamist and radical groups throughout the Middle East. Hoping that it will be enough to finally topple these regimes, the Iranians give the go ahead to their agents to begin operations.
For the Iranians, their operations work beyond their wildest dreams. One by one, the western Allied regimes in many countries fall to resistance and protest movements within their countries, thanks in part to weapons, money, and organization provided by Iran. In Lebanon, Hezbollah is able to bring about the resignation of the Lebanese government, claiming that they alone have been given legitimacy to rule by the Lebanese people, as evidenced by Hezbollah organized demonstrations and strikes throughout the country. In Saudi Arabia, insurgents and rebel groups, many of which have broad support throughout the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces, are able to rally together to launch a coup against the Saudi Royal Family. As their palaces fall one by one to disaffected army units and crowds of demonstrators, the royal family flees the country, going through American occupied Iraq before settling down in France. A similar series of events unfold in Oman, where the Sultan is arrested by Omani military officers and turned into nothing more than a figurehead for their new regime. In Tunisia, strikes, demonstrations, and the beginnings of army rebellions force the Tunisian government and its leader Zine Ben Ali to flee the country, exiling themselves in France, allowing extremists to gain control of the country, similar to what happened in Algeria. Finally, in Yemem, Iranian agents are able to link up with rebel groups in the country to carry out a successful assassination of longtime president Ali Abdullah Saleh, allowing a new radical islamist regime to come to power. All of these new regimes, thankful to Iran for helping them to gain power, begin the process of entering the ECON alliance bloc.
