Chapter Seventy Four
Awsa and Surabaya revolt as 1722 starts; doubtless setting the tone for the year. Reducing war exhaustion currently just over 3 is the only quick fix for reducing rebel problems - if nothing happens I’ll be clear towards the second half of 1723. Salzburg revolts in February.
April’s busier with four revolts; Cuttack, Priangan, Lothringen and Hinterpommern. Pecs and Chittagong convert in May. June’s back to the rebels; Friesland, Lubeck and Nile. I also get a core on French Hessen via a boundary dispute. July sees uprisings in Sagaing and Munster. August starts with a warning from Mantua; Horde forces are also moving to high alert…
Kargah revolts in September; war exhaustion is below 2 now.
War with the Mongol Khanate - October 1722
Fyn revolts at the news.
The Mongol Khanate, Pegu and Mantua are all OPMs. Later in the month Minangkabau converts and there are the regular uprisings in Istria, Perak and Prey Nokar.
Mantua and the Mongol Khanate are both annexed late in November. Okhotsk revolts a little later, presumably when news gets that deep into Siberia.
January 1723 starts with no less than seven cores; Hannover, Mainz, Antalya, Rhodes, Bursa, Smyrna and Bithynia. The war isn’t terribly interesting. The Ottomans have stormed into Anatolia and have their fleet defending Sicily. I’ve taken Thrace and will have mainland Italy shortly. Ming is the usual mess of battles across the borders - with an higher than usual level of misjudgements over attrition.
Peace with the Ottomans - February 1723
I didn’t actually fight any Ottoman units! Hessen revolts.
The Conquest of Rome!
That sets the rebels off; Lubeck, Croatia, Franche-Comte and Shenquing. Ratibor converts in May by which time Ming’s armies have been washed away and I’ve finally got an army to Pegu. Pegu’s annexed towards the end of the month. I’m at 99 victory over Ming and I’m busy marching my armies out before the peace deal.
Peace with Ming - July 1723
Starting to get into the more valuable provinces now. War exhaustion is 2.05!
The French have upgraded their units again. Here are my troop types:
And from a recently taken French core:
Focus on the top two lines, Line Infantry and Latin Dragoons - those are the troop types the French are now fielding. It’s going to hurt.
Guangxi and Wurzburg revolt in July as do Demak, Tshiyan Noyen and Dali a month later. September has three more rebellions; Limburg, Macau and Yunnan. I also spot a 20k plus French stack in South Africa - I may just abandon those provinces come another war with France.
9th November 1723
This should be fun…
Rebel Count = 3036 (+31)
Rebels = 14,412,000 (+140,000)
