You know, with some scripting, someone could probably come up with a tool to go through your updates and do a very detailed statistical rebel analysis...what provinces revolted the most/least, favorite months for revolts, % of revolts in/out of TSCs, number of kittens made Khan...

Nice work, that French peace was indeed impressive. :) Good to get some expensive provinces out of the way before the costs start increasing. Also, OE Italy seems to be reachable now. Maybe trigger that warning somehow now that that's the case? ;)

Good to have the Norwegian provinces connected.

An impressive set of results. You've weakened France still further. Hopefully their separated provinces will revolt. You've reduced 4 province Burgundy to a TPM. You have the land route to Ottoman Italy. those colonies in South Africa open the routeto West Africa and give you a border against Swahili's main territory. That should prompt a DoW.

In the year since your war with France ended, your armies ought to have rebuilt their strength. A DoW on Mantua is another route into war against France.
A DoW against Meissen would usually bring in the ottomans (and a core OPM Pegu).
You've no border with Portugal, now. There's more than one way to skin Montenegro and the Morea. Make them your allies. Someone is bound to invade them in any war you fight and is likely to take land or outright annex. Then just take the provinces in the peace deal.

Another assimilation, only one though.

You're one fifth the way to removing Britain from Norway. The Ming couldn't hold Taiwan against you; neither could Japan. It must be time for another war against Ming.

At least Austria was an ally of Burgundy. They just had to have Britain and Portugal as allies and you proceeded to take full advantage. A Coriscan Emperor not named Napoleon. And nearly a hundred years too early.

A British - Castillian War - fought over the Americas.

A war against Meissen to gain Ottoman Italy and Sicily, if you can manage it. Picking up Pegu along the way.

As you have identified western units do take off soon, therefore, you will need to keep at war almost constantly against France. This time round you captured half their european provinces. Next time ...

Good to see you're on the mend. How's the snow up there in Leicestershire?

Britain losing the HRE is good news in terms of reduced forcelimits for them, but it seems to be increasingly irrelevant anyway as you swallow up western Europe. What conditions do you have to meet to dismantle the HRE?

That WE must be running down nicely. With the Latins keeping one another occupied this would be a good time for a better Khan to appear. A competent taxer and you will be able to afford the troops to really expand fast and would have WE nicely zeroed as the TSC ends.

I've finally caught up to the end of this excellent AAR. I admire your masochism....eer, persistence; I know I probably would have gone insane around 1430.

I have to say this AAR did inspire me...to play Muscowy so as to crush the Golden Horde and restore quietness to the steppes. Despite that, it did help my tactics considerably, as I was able to wipe out several invading Bohemian armies via scorched earth tactics, as opposed to my usual method of just throwing an opposing doomstack at them. The fields of Ruthenia and Podolia are strewn with about 120K dead Bohemians. I used the same tactic as well against the Ottomans, but even a scorched Cherson isn't that unhospitable. Still, I was able to beat them (despite the fact that they blatantly cheated, marching a 20K army behind the front lines via Qara Kokunylu, which was neither a vassal or giving them MA )and my WE never got above two, which is unheard of for me when fighting a country of similar size. In my early wars with IN France, they'd end with 15 WE, me with 12-13.

You're lucky your Bohemia was a wimp. In my Byzantine game prior to the Muscowy one, the Triple Kingdom of Bohemia, Poland, and Hungary covered all of eastern and most of central Europe, with 230K men under arms by 1550. My first combat encounter with them was when a massive, uber, terrifying, jaw dropping specter of death doomstack (147 regiments!!) slammed into the assembly area for my Italian armies, 101K strong. It was like the Battle of the Nations...in 1580. It would've been interesting to see how the Horde would have fared if that monster had been in charge of eastern Europe.

FEEDBACK

Malurous - I liked the deal with France - the route to Ottoman Italy is rather nice. That Norwegian province is a bonus, the next TSC is going to be bad enough without trying to getting MA from GB.

Chief Ragusa -
The peace deals have brought some nice goodies :)

I'm still to be convinced France is weakened though :(

I'm warned by the Ottomans I need to break that before war with France as I use the same units against both - the Ottomans are probably the only people left who might realistically sack Sarai.

I might try allying the Sunni minors but losing a couple of hundred points of relationship a year doesn't make that cheap or quick!

The problem with Taiwan is that it's still a colony so seizures reset the core clock.

Britain and Castile are fighting hard over Mexico.

The western unit problem is here, now :(

Dewirix - I feel rough, the weather is miserable but mainly the city is an ice sheet with very little snow. I need to control the electors to dismantle the HRE - not long to go - but Corsica is part of the Empire and I've still only got a three hundred year old galley in European waters.

The Arch Mede - A TSC you say, not convinced there's ever a good time but yes they are quite helpful for burning WE without getting bored ;)

Enewald - Good idea but not quite yet - France needs a lot more beating down on first.

Johan11 - Cheers!

Basileus444 - Congrats on the read LOL - the point of an AAR like this is that it's far from the normal gaming experience so lots of people find it interesting. I'm pleased you've learned a few things about fighting wars, using attrition and managing war exhaustion.

Vesimir - To be fair I do try and keep sensible borders - easier for rebel management! None of the weirder gameplay decisions such as maximising province borders for more Boundary Disputes.

rho - The HRE is OPMs Corsica and Meissen!

Chapter Seventy Four

Awsa and Surabaya revolt as 1722 starts; doubtless setting the tone for the year. Reducing war exhaustion currently just over 3 is the only quick fix for reducing rebel problems - if nothing happens I’ll be clear towards the second half of 1723. Salzburg revolts in February.

April’s busier with four revolts; Cuttack, Priangan, Lothringen and Hinterpommern. Pecs and Chittagong convert in May. June’s back to the rebels; Friesland, Lubeck and Nile. I also get a core on French Hessen via a boundary dispute. July sees uprisings in Sagaing and Munster. August starts with a warning from Mantua; Horde forces are also moving to high alert…

Kargah revolts in September; war exhaustion is below 2 now.

War with the Mongol Khanate - October 1722

2dl1vrr.jpg

Fyn revolts at the news.

1264oy9.jpg

The Mongol Khanate, Pegu and Mantua are all OPMs. Later in the month Minangkabau converts and there are the regular uprisings in Istria, Perak and Prey Nokar.

Mantua and the Mongol Khanate are both annexed late in November. Okhotsk revolts a little later, presumably when news gets that deep into Siberia.

January 1723 starts with no less than seven cores; Hannover, Mainz, Antalya, Rhodes, Bursa, Smyrna and Bithynia. The war isn’t terribly interesting. The Ottomans have stormed into Anatolia and have their fleet defending Sicily. I’ve taken Thrace and will have mainland Italy shortly. Ming is the usual mess of battles across the borders - with an higher than usual level of misjudgements over attrition.

Peace with the Ottomans - February 1723

2cd7ccp.jpg

I didn’t actually fight any Ottoman units! Hessen revolts.

The Conquest of Rome!

2w2ifr8.jpg

That sets the rebels off; Lubeck, Croatia, Franche-Comte and Shenquing. Ratibor converts in May by which time Ming’s armies have been washed away and I’ve finally got an army to Pegu. Pegu’s annexed towards the end of the month. I’m at 99 victory over Ming and I’m busy marching my armies out before the peace deal.

Peace with Ming - July 1723

fypy0g.jpg

Starting to get into the more valuable provinces now. War exhaustion is 2.05!

The French have upgraded their units again. Here are my troop types:

2lm08lz.jpg

And from a recently taken French core:

2zioc4h.jpg

Focus on the top two lines, Line Infantry and Latin Dragoons - those are the troop types the French are now fielding. It’s going to hurt.

Guangxi and Wurzburg revolt in July as do Demak, Tshiyan Noyen and Dali a month later. September has three more rebellions; Limburg, Macau and Yunnan. I also spot a 20k plus French stack in South Africa - I may just abandon those provinces come another war with France.

9th November 1723

20ua0sp.jpg

This should be fun…

Rebel Count = 3036 (+31)
Rebels = 14,412,000 (+140,000)

Vesimir - I normally work on the basis the logical basis for borders is the coastline - France in particular is work in progress - but the idea of pretty borders usually seems to me to contain a fair bit of OTL cultural conditioning.

And indeed that's a quality emu - it has content and a discussion point rather than just proclaiming it's existence like an X Factor winner :)

There's a nice TSC looming there. At least the Khagan has ADM 6, so no more 33% loss of tax. Expensive provinces the Ottomans have in Italy. The ai protects Sicily with the fleet. All you have is a 300 year old galley - proves the Horde knows how to construct solid ships. The new Khagan will be an asset binding your Sunni friends to you.

You took 3 more OPMs out and gained more Ming territory.

The French have forces in South Africa. You'll have to get yours out. Those new units are far more than you can handle -directly. You let France have time to rebuild.

This TSC comes upon the Horde with little WE and no war.

6 is incompetent. 7 is what is needed.

That is almost the perfect Khan. I think incompetent MIL is better than competent due to the bugginess of negative BB limit. One ADM point short. So near, and yet so far.

Time to use the new relation of 100-120 with the Zimbabweans to get MA there so the Horde can hide from the French. Is 20k large enough to suffer from chasing you through scorched provinces down there?
