Chapter Seventy Two

May 1716 brings revolts in Raichur Doab and Konstanz. The rebels in India are a curious mix, Reformed Tercios and Indian Hill Fighter cavalry! Tshiyet Noyan revolts in June, Altai in July and Berber in August. October sees more rebel activity in Nile and Binh Tri Thien. Bergenshus revolts in November.

OPM Manchu sends a warning in December - war exhaustion is now under 4...

1717 starts with a revolt in Munster. Zavolochye culturally assimilates from Russian in February. Mysore also converts from Catholic so Mainland India is Sunni (Sri Lanka is still Buddhist). There’s a revolt in Minagkabau in May only a few days after the last rebels in Norway are hunted down. Friuli revolts in June even as preparations for the next war are close to complete.

July 1717 and there’s a wave of good cores; Alexandria, Macedonia, Nis, Karaman, Konya and Anatolia. The month also sees the truce with Ming end.

2d7c39c.jpg

And the reason for this DOW? Simple OPM Bali is allied to Ming after being forced released from Brunei a few years back. It should answer Ming’s call - Bali is of course Sunni and I’m looking to avoid stability hits.

War with Ming - July 1717

30vljma.jpg

Everyone answers the call. Demak and Sieradz revolt.

August is busy. Mantua was stormed in the first few weeks of the war and bought it’s liberty for some 600+ ducats. Dai Viet is OPM’d as well, handing over Viet Bac (on which I have a core). Bergenshus and Chittagong rebel mid month and Bali is annexed before September starts.

OPM Tuscany sends a warning as September starts. Fyn and Romagna revolt. Manchu is annexed towards the end of the month. Only Ming remains in the war three months after hostilities started.

Bohuslan revolts in October while the war against Ming is a series of inconclusive battles along the border.

November brings three revolts; Holland, Thüringen and Binh Tri Thien.

December is also busy; rebels in Koln and Styria. Russian Vladimir culturally assimilates in the middle of the month and Georgian Kartli does the same at the end of the month!

As 1718 starts it’s time to extend the warfare to Europe once more with an attack on Tuscany.

War with Tuscany - January 1718

73m1jr.jpg

Yes they’ve been guaranteed by the big dog only three thousand of those troops are Tuscan. Cairo and Nile revolt at the news. Later in the month the Cosmopolitaine occupants of Vermandois pick a sensible if ultimately futile time to revolt.

The French have diploannexed Bohemia since the last war so cored Sudety is a target. The first fortress I storm is Munich, there are 15 units in the build queue.

Hormuz revolts at the start of February and lost Visayas is reclaimed - shame that the ‘core clock’ has been reset. Mid-month Tuscany hands over 2480 ducats for peace and another batch of marketplaces start construction - this time in Central Asia.

March has revolts in Bergenshus, Chittagong and Xishuan Banna.

Burgundy sends a warning as April starts - I’m also over 50% war score against Ming although progress against France is slower! Xishuan Banna revolts again.

Bakkar cores as May starts and the French offer white peace - rejected of course I should be able to make further gains here! Osnabruck revolts but that’s easily dealt with.

Burgundy declares War - May 1718

They have friends but more of that later.

Here’s the state of play in China.

The French Front

14xkwid.jpg

I’m +14 war score and war exhaustion is 3.53.

Rebel Count = 2950 (+31)
Rebels = 13,990,000 (+135,000)

Posts get lost from time to time and it is most frustrating. Hope you recover from your awful cold quickly.

Good progress again. Those OPMs have a lot of money! Burning out Taiwan seems a bit extreme, but if there are 900 or more colonists there it's the only way. Shame about Bohemia's annexation. I had to laught when you stopped 15 units building by storming Munich. 14 French armies but with no war capability I am wondering just how large each stack is -about 7000. From the looks of things the war has more years to run assuming you want to surround Paris and complete the land route to Ottoman Italy. You also mentioned Sudety, too. Great that you reclaimed your lost colony

Ming have few troops left and it seems just matter of time before they surrender some more provinces.

3 assimilations are more welcome progress.

You don't tell us which countries Burgundy brought along. Hope it's real heavyweights like Austria and Vijayanagar and not GB, Castille, Ottomans and Portugal.

I remember when France were the major threat in this game and you were tip-toeing around the edges of Europe.

Now they're down to 100,000 men +10 WE and we're all thinking about the naval game.

I suppose it shouldn't surprise me given your past achievements, but good work bringing the BBB down!

Well, we have passed the 30th War of Horde Aggression which was my call. France is well and truly knackered now but it will take a few more peaces to carve the carcass up.

As to Burgundy's unnamed friends, I can't think of anyone left who can cause the Khan to shake in his stylish yet affordable boots. Just more rebel factories in the making.

I hope you get well soon, Prawnstar. Finally, all that decorative gravel and watching X Factor will pay off as Ms Prawnstar takes care of her ill tribal despot with love, affection and chicken soup. Well, at least, some soup. You are at least getting some soup, right?

FEEDBACK

Enewald - France will get cut down - slowly, very slowly but definitely cut down.

Chief Ragusa -
Thanks, the cold is getting better - sadly I've still had to go to work - too many things going on career wise that I want to happen.

Burning Taiwan is because I won't be able to hold it against Ming or Japan and there's several years of growth required.

Most of the French units are quite small - but there are a couple of decent stacks.

Goals include cored Sudety and the land route to Ottoman Italy.

Ming can't hold wars will always lead to gain.

Burgundy's allies are a cliffhanger ;)

Susanna - Thank you! :)

Johan11 - France is still decades from annexation - those provinces get expensive towards the end.

naggy - Damn I was hoping it would invite Carla...

sprites - Portugal in Barcelona- they diploannexed Aragon at some stage in the past.

The Arch Mede - Good call and I think you'll like the answer :D

Boris ze Spider - Many more than that - I believe France will fall but it may last decades - those provinces get expensive!

GaiusC - No madness here; Sparta is still outside the Horde in the Morea! I like to keep France under pressue through WE slows them down a bit.

loki100 - A TSC while I feel like this would be a put it on pause and go to bed day.

naggy - I hate to think of how my cats would do a TSC - mainly by eating it is my guess! The four of them have a pecking order but you guys wouldn't like Khan Furball - he's too mellow to go conquering.

Dewirix - France is definitely being tamed - as you say the threats of one era become the snackfood of the next.

Davout - France is getting towards a dangerous phase - the Latin units start to really pull away soon. I'm striving to avoid soup - I have had a lovely chicken vindaloo

El Pip - There's nothing wrong with soup - as long as there's some food on offer as well :D

Chapter Seventy Three

Burgundy’s friends

30mo1e1.jpg

Hiding at the bottom of that list is Portugal. Now given Burgundy is alliance leader I really need to try and grab those Portuguese bases in East Asia. In principle I could gain British Norway but as usual there’s a huge garrison that far outnumbers my troops in theatre. Burgundy itself is a four province weakling.

Pecs revolts in June. July brings new cores; Halland, Bohuslan, Jylland and Slesvig. August has a small revolt in Hsenwi and I’ve +85 war score over Ming. My troops are heading homewards so I don’t get war exhaustion marching them out through Ming territory once I’ve handed it back. Albania cores at the start of September.

Peace with Ming - October 1718

ilxev7.jpg

A 90 point deal this moves the border just that it closer to the high value provinces of the Chinese coast. Peace is never entirely well received and there are revolts in Kachin and Hinggan.

Despite increasing success against the French November sees four new uprisings; Schwaben, Kurland, Osel and Skane. December starts with the conversion of Hormouz - there are only three Shiite provinces left. Konstanz revolts as well.

European Front - January 1719

f993n.jpg

I’m at +45% over France.

As 1719 starts Verkne-Angarsky cores and Ruppin revolts. February also brings more cores and more revolts. The rebels are Jasagdu, Liege and Oberpfalz. The cores; Wurzburg, Pecs, Osel and Vastergotland.

Sunni OPM Pegu also sends a warning this month, nice.

April has three revolts; Riau, Viet Bac and Luang Prabang.

Moravia revolts in June by which time I have +60 war score against France but still haven’t tackled the French troop concentration around Paris. Later in the month the Ottomans send a warning and Danish rebels take Skane.

I’m also interested in another long range naval strike but the navies of Great Britain and Portugal are far more formidable than Sweden’s.

Scandinavia - July 1719

r1g6tf.jpg

I marched my rebuilt army off to crush the rebels in Livonia and left the British to collect war exhaustion in sieges across Norway. I’d like to get into southern Sweden to defeat the southern rebels but I expect peace before anyone actually defects.

France - July 1719

34ywc2g.jpg

Oberlausitz revolts in July as do Agder and Chiang Mai a month later.

Come September there’s a new Emperor as Britain falls into a Regency.

344cuft.jpg

November and there are rebels in Hovd and Nile. France offers White Peace even at 70 points of war score down! Friesland revolts in December. I’m still nowhere near ready for peace if I can get an army to Southern Africa, if I can’t then peace it will be with France. The Burgundian alliance will take longer as I’m still having problems with the level 4 Portuguese fortresses.

Oldenburg and Sukthothai celebrate 1720 with revolts.

France - January 1720

8x3c55.jpg

Notice Skane has been liberated but there are still Danish rebels to deal with. Further north the heavily attrition British armies are still a threat. February brings revolts in Suakin and Guangxi.

March 1720 Castile declares war on Great Britain! Days later I reject a White Peace offer from Great Britain. Which turns out to be unpopular leading to revolts in Trier, Leipzig and Shenquing. Sanxing revolts even as the Fleet delivers the Africa Horde to it’s target zone.

Invasion Africa - April 1720

xckt38.jpg

Koblenz and Franken revolt in May - the rebel situation in Germany is getting a little messy. June starts with the conversion of Sieradz and multiple Portuguese attacks in the East Indies! I have to hope I don’t start losing some of the ground I’ve so painfully gained. There are another three more rebellions; Moravia, Pressburg and Priangan.

As October starts Ilmisk cores and it’s time for peace with France. By this point I was starting to lose ground to rebels and French counter sieges. My armies had bogged down short of numbers and morale in hostile territory.

The war situation just before peace
