Chapter Seventy Two
May 1716 brings revolts in Raichur Doab and Konstanz. The rebels in India are a curious mix, Reformed Tercios and Indian Hill Fighter cavalry! Tshiyet Noyan revolts in June, Altai in July and Berber in August. October sees more rebel activity in Nile and Binh Tri Thien. Bergenshus revolts in November.
OPM Manchu sends a warning in December - war exhaustion is now under 4...
1717 starts with a revolt in Munster. Zavolochye culturally assimilates from Russian in February. Mysore also converts from Catholic so Mainland India is Sunni (Sri Lanka is still Buddhist). There’s a revolt in Minagkabau in May only a few days after the last rebels in Norway are hunted down. Friuli revolts in June even as preparations for the next war are close to complete.
July 1717 and there’s a wave of good cores; Alexandria, Macedonia, Nis, Karaman, Konya and Anatolia. The month also sees the truce with Ming end.
And the reason for this DOW? Simple OPM Bali is allied to Ming after being forced released from Brunei a few years back. It should answer Ming’s call - Bali is of course Sunni and I’m looking to avoid stability hits.
War with Ming - July 1717
Everyone answers the call. Demak and Sieradz revolt.
August is busy. Mantua was stormed in the first few weeks of the war and bought it’s liberty for some 600+ ducats. Dai Viet is OPM’d as well, handing over Viet Bac (on which I have a core). Bergenshus and Chittagong rebel mid month and Bali is annexed before September starts.
OPM Tuscany sends a warning as September starts. Fyn and Romagna revolt. Manchu is annexed towards the end of the month. Only Ming remains in the war three months after hostilities started.
Bohuslan revolts in October while the war against Ming is a series of inconclusive battles along the border.
November brings three revolts; Holland, Thüringen and Binh Tri Thien.
December is also busy; rebels in Koln and Styria. Russian Vladimir culturally assimilates in the middle of the month and Georgian Kartli does the same at the end of the month!
As 1718 starts it’s time to extend the warfare to Europe once more with an attack on Tuscany.
War with Tuscany - January 1718
Yes they’ve been guaranteed by the big dog only three thousand of those troops are Tuscan. Cairo and Nile revolt at the news. Later in the month the Cosmopolitaine occupants of Vermandois pick a sensible if ultimately futile time to revolt.
The French have diploannexed Bohemia since the last war so cored Sudety is a target. The first fortress I storm is Munich, there are 15 units in the build queue.
Hormuz revolts at the start of February and lost Visayas is reclaimed - shame that the ‘core clock’ has been reset. Mid-month Tuscany hands over 2480 ducats for peace and another batch of marketplaces start construction - this time in Central Asia.
March has revolts in Bergenshus, Chittagong and Xishuan Banna.
Burgundy sends a warning as April starts - I’m also over 50% war score against Ming although progress against France is slower! Xishuan Banna revolts again.
Bakkar cores as May starts and the French offer white peace - rejected of course I should be able to make further gains here! Osnabruck revolts but that’s easily dealt with.
Burgundy declares War - May 1718
They have friends but more of that later.
Here’s the state of play in China.
The French Front
I’m +14 war score and war exhaustion is 3.53.
