FEEDBACK

tuore - The problem is getting DOWed before I can really finish someone off.

Chief Ragusa - My concern is if I take out the Ottomans who will replace them?

Rockingluke - They are definitely stacking up aren't they!

Davout - I think I can beat Lithuania handily given the opportunity - I definitely want a lot of their provinces :)

Vesimir - Sounds easy that way - although I would like to force them to release Croatia if I get the chance.

Enewald - Someday - but not diplomatically until I've Westernised as I don't want the decentralisation move on diploannexation - it'll add 30 years to my westernisation time.

GaiusC - I don't defend the first few provinces along the Black Sea from Budjak to Lugansk. That usually inflicts lots of WE on the enemy and can take them up to a year and a half. I also ignore big siege forces in Archangelsk. In terms of strategic location I'm Russia so I let General Winter do a lot of my fighting.

Keinwyn - Army size and Force limits in the next update :)

wraitii - Yes - either that or Paradox put a little more variation into country colours.

I think the Sarah Beeny CB needs to be developed .:cool: ... awesome conduct of those last wars

I hope you aren't using 'Developing a Sarah Beeny CB' as a euphemism ;)

Johan11 - Still thinking about what/how to do so reminder me if I forget

Wolfhashat - I'm five slider moves approx 75-80 years from being in position. I also need a high admin leader and a western neighbour. The last bit is easy enough I just beat up Novgorod and take a province bordering Sweden.

The wars were a Lith lead war including Austria where I peaced out Austria then Lith followed nine months later by a Hungarian lead war with Austria as a member of that coalition as well. Apologies if that wasn't clear in the update.

Malurous - That was completely the issue - maybe if I'd held on longer against Lithuania I might have got another province but driven WE too high. We've already seen the pain sky high WE causes.

aldriq - Astrakhan isn't coastal :(

Yes Saturday was wet wasn't it - obviously today after my party it's been fine all day. Shimla Pinks = good choice - did you get to dazzle people with your surprisingly deep knowledge of Leicester's curry houses ;)

sprites - I find it's more important to keep my army intact then defend any particular province or win any single battle.

urdh - Agreed, thanks for answering the question.

anweRU - Interesting, the big question is whether or not they've reformed their governments.

The Arch Mede - Not sure if it's always true but Lithuania did have lot of money at that point. My finances are so weak that any cash I can pickup in a peace deal is worth having.

I usually find Lithuania has decent generals and nearly always has great warrior Kings but I haven't played that many games of IN. My games tend to be slow affairs where I ponder my moves quite a bit.

morningSIDEr - So no Colour Thief CB in HttT? Disappointing :rofl:

alexon47 - Let me direct you to the first image in post 148 :D

Chief Ragusa - Given the way last night went I'd have probably got an earful of vomit :eek:

Vesimir - Yes kitten is a kitten. I know... sub-optimal

Chapter Twenty Five

As its 1500 here’s few round up type screenshots.

Let’s start with the utterly woeful economy. The only good news is I’m finally making an annual surplus (20 ducats) while at full military maintenance. I spend virtually all my time at full maintenance.

2ii7vcm.jpg

In terms of neighbour bonus:

Gov’t = 0
Production = 10.80
Trade = 14.40
Naval = 12.80
Land = 2.40

My tech strategy is currently to push Land so that at least my armies can fight even if everything else is pitiful. I’m hoping that once I westernise the 100 point neighbour bonus will last a good long time and at least upgrade me way beyond the countries to my East even if I still struggle against Westerners.

The Military

20tqwbn.jpg

Notice I’m nowhere near my force limit (and manpower is 133k). If I could afford the stab hit I could probably swap out ‘National Conscripts’ for Divine Supremacy, Bureaucracy or National Bank at a guess.

The only reason I have a navy is because of ‘Build a Navy’ missions – they are very easy for the Horde.

Sliders

2lvmuh.jpg

I’m one move short of being in place for Innovative to Westernise – then I just need to move four points over the Centralisation limit.

Armies of the World

4hdqnn.jpg

You’ll notice no Austria or Lithuania there. Lithuania has just been trashed by Austria and Austria has just been trashed by France.

The ever popular pies

zlovnr.jpg

The most interesting thing here is the possibility that with the right war gains I might just manage to add Persian as an accepted culture. Relative to everything other than my Russian provinces Persia is high tax.

This also really shows the extent to which I need to get some conversions done. Converting provinces to Sunni will do wonders for my tax take, stability costs and revolt risk. That will have to become the priority once I get close to Westernisation with its heavy Stab hits.

The World (excluding the bit where the Horde firmly believes you fall off the edge)

6jg6sw.jpg

Yeah, France.

Very nice AAR Prawnstar, as a relative newbee at this game u intrested me into playing with Muscovy. Managed to form Russia quite fast, nicely rich and plenty of manpower.

Pushed my badboy to badboy wars around 1480-1490 and all went well... till france took a province bordering me. I saved a couple of days before france declares on me, and even with my 60k cav I have no chance of taking france on. I even once managed to almost kill the french main stack, but then it whiped one of my 15k cav armies... :'(

so right now I'm waiting till you border france (or a similar scary oponent) to see how to tackle that big blue blob.
Oh I already westernised and formed russia, WE is a pain, not sure how to tackle that with the string of bad monarchs (with horrid legacy) I've been having. (low admin, high WE, low legacy is a horrid pain... I need @ least 2 armies to tackle all those rebels)

anways, good AAR, and I'm following... loved your irquois AAR too :)

*edit: for tips I think I should add, as muscovy I have no fleet what so ever, and no way to reach the big blue blobs home land*

That is a crap economy. Just as well you can't be force converted Catholic!

That's a fairly large Mamluks empire. Taking Jerusalem and Mecca would help your missionary position.

The Ming look like they'll be on your border about the time you're about to undergo your second westernization. You want the Ottomans still to be there, too? Forcing them to release countries might be interesting.The map would look better, if Persia was using an alternate colour. You maybe doing that deliberately to show us where the Horde is going.

Moving beyond your centralization limit will add to your RR at the rate of 1 per move beyond the redline. You can't afford any BB. Your current good Khan can't last too much longer.

What do you have adviser-wise? How long does it take/cost to gain 1 stability?

He's on EU3 IN. In IN, France is the scary opponent. If you have territories in Europe, no one else comes close to France's scariness, and usually some of your conquests and peace deals are made specifically to avoid a common border until you're bigger than them. Here, even Ming is nowhere nearly as frightening - it's a decent-sized Ming but still far from a truly scary Ming.

His 1500 pic shows a quite healthy France, even according to IN standards. That'll be fun.
Of course, even funnire is the fact that his mightiest Western opponents will soon be in frequent confrontations with France as well ;)

Armies of the World
Deccan has a bigger army than you :p
Then, you could have a far bigger army if you had the money - probably 4st in support limit.
Overall, this looks quite good. Ottomans might be the most serious nuisance right now, but they probably won't grow anymore, unless Mamluks implode. Hungary, Lithuania and even Poland are sizable, but at the same time, they make a good buffer against France and a possible Austrian HRE.

Techwise, it's quite bad, obviously. But then, you rushed Government-9, which explains why other techs are so low in 1500. And your Iroquois experience showed you can catch up the basic techs afterwards ;)

Of course, once you aim for Westernization and cross the redline, the RR will just go insane, and then the stab hits will be nasty. Good luck, Sir. Doing this as tribal is quite close to being a glutton for punishment ;)

Gotta love Douglas Adams.

"A casual observer would not have noticed anything remarkable about the man who rode at their centre, muffled in a heavy cloak, tense, hunched forward on his horse as if weighed down by a heavy burden, because a casual observer would have been dead."
:rofl:
I spent a good few minuets laughing.

The Naval Race with Ming missions aren't. ;)

I swapped out Nat Conscripts because I wasn't using anywhere near my support limit or manpower and got a great man event with nothing else to spend the 2 stab on. It was a mistake.

The Nat Conscripts boost indirectly helps WE. Swap it out, and the same battle or attrition casualties will cost you 50% extra WE. I had to cut back hard on the amount of wartaxes I took to keep my WE under control. You were having trouble keeping WE under control without taking any wartaxes. Drop NC and you will be heading for another WE death spiral in the next big set of wars you fight.

My normal tribal horde in 1500 (it actually looked eerily similar to your map around 1475, just before the Lithuanians attacked me)
mc94jm.jpg

That's England in Norway and that is Ming on the right.

I couldn't have done it without the inspiration from this AAR (and a little help from my vassals).
xcmckl.jpg

Vassals are just so helpful for this sort of game. I really think you are missing out by not making more use of them (at least until there is no-one else left to conquer). Once you have gone permanently over the BB edge, you might as well anex everything, but if you are playing a long period around that edge I think vassals are a very effective strategy. Here is an example of one of the many things that vassals can do for you.

You take WE from having your provinces occupied. OTOH if they have to come through vassals to get to you, then your vassals take the WE from having the provinces occupied.

Ah, good old IN France. :p Good thing is that there's no major power that you aren't bordering but that is up close that would restrict your expansion now, in the sense that no matter which way you bulldoze, you shouldn't run into a new strong neighbor that soon. (<- positive thinking)

Gotta love Douglas Adams.

Thanks for the link, that's hilarious. :rofl: And somewhat on-topic, fortunately.

Funny thing about that story, I was thinking how Monty Python-ish that soldier was, and then I clicked on the Short Stories link and noticed "Based on an original sketch by Douglas Adams and Graham Chapman." No wonder, then. :D

I can't think why...

Rebel Count = 386 (+17)
Rebels = 1,992,000 (+116,000)

A nice overview of things. Methinks the Golden Horde economy will improve considerably before a true showdown with France begins. Thanks to kind 'donations' from conquered lands sure to wisely accept Horde rule...
