If your playing a natiion and the rebels successfully take over your government do you quit the game saying "Hey....I lost!"? If not, why??? I know its a game and all that but normally if the rebels take control of the country don't they hang you out to dry? or chop your head off? I mean I can't see the rebels taking over the country then giving it back saying "Hey....we were only joking!".

Hmmmmm.......when I first read this response......
"You're not the king, ur above him. Ur basically god."......I really wanted to say something. But what????? I read some other posts and did some other stuff.....then came back and reread the post. This really wasn't an answer that I wanted. Still I didn't know what to come back with. Did some more other stuff....came back again to reread the post. I still felt the same way. But what to say?????? "ur above him. Ur basically god." , don't you see.....editing the saved files.....that is....giving myself super armies, more money, better relations etc. <----basically god. If I do whatever I want because I'm in control of the computer takes the skill level to a lower notch. Lets say I'm playing a computer chess game. The computer makes a most excellent move on me the human. "Damn" I say "now I'm gonna lose". But wait....I can go back in time(powers of a god)and take back that move.

The wonderful thing about a chess game is that the two sides are equally balanced with the same number and type of pieces. Going first or second can also be a even thing.

The wonderful thing about EU is its many aspects the way so much can go right or the way so much can go wrong and dealing with it.

So to you sir I say nay...I will not play as a god!!! Oh well unless I play "Populous" or some other similar game.:)

The major thing is that u have
a)a gods POV from it all
b)all your troops etc obey u without thinking twice(so unrealistic:D)

:)

Doesn’t the manual (like you could ever trust the manual  ) state that you do not play the king but rather the grey eminence that stands behind the king. And if the king is ousted from the throne, you play another grey eminence - easy as that! You may role-play the different grey eminences, or you may not, the option is up to you. And since it is up to the player, this is the reason that a new government that came in place to undo all the evil oppressive practices used by the former government, is just as likely to continue the same evil practices without further consideration. :)

The manual states a lot fo things that aren't quite accurate :) If you really to do the god-type game, hit F12 and type in wallenstein, pappenheim, and richelieu. That gives you pretty much unfettered access to do anything you want with any country's military units. Now, thats god-like.

It never happened to me, but I think I would continue if the game is still interesting.

I fact according to the manual and the various titles given to you during the game, I see the player as a Super-administrator, in charge of business on behalf of the King. So it doen't seem irrealistic to have this administrator stay in charge after a revolution, due to his precious and rare talents (while the king is ruthlessly slaughtered, bad luck!).

To take an historic example, during WW2, when the germans were driven from France, the Vichy regime was taken over; still most of the high administrators of the regime stayed in business, because their skills and knowledge were far to precious to be wasted for simple political reasons, especially in the troubled times following a revolution, when the first priority is reconstruction.

So a revolution won't make me quit, what does these foolish commoners would achieve without my precious and enlightened advices? :D )

Super-administrator, grey eminence, king, bigwig, chief, dignitary, leader, lion, king tut, luminary, the man, magnate, baron, czar, notability, VIP, mogul, prince, tycoon, high-muck-a-muck, big wheel, fat cat, big gun, big-timer, plutocrat, .......whatever label you like to use it still comes down to just one person. The player. If this "player" runs his country into the ground ie.."the rebels take over" he/she lost. No excuses. IMO:)

Now just because the computer game makes something possible should the human player take advantage? If the same situation occured during the board game would they--your fellow humans--allow it?
