I made 2 points
The mods are driving away scenario writers (Bolt)
(Shot a bolt in your foot)
The forum modding is unbalanced. Pro HOI posters can flame at will, posters saying it's broken are banned as flamers. The MECHANICS of the game were 1.02/are? 1.03 broken. Post
that and the Pros are on you. I don't think just getting banned
POs people it's the attitude of the mods ie. parting post shots.
muzzling negative comments.
How many bannings / warnings today?
(most likely can chalk up another
)
Frankly I did like what Bolt did,
I appreciated his UNPAID work. It worked
I PAID for paxadox's work, It didn't work
Unpaid? I'm assuming you didn't see the hundreds of dollars he got from donations at his website. Average it out and I'm sure he got paid more per hour than most of the Paradox staff.
As others have said Bolt
himself got off light, but he
chose to leave himself. Do you think Bolt should be allowed to do whatever he wants because you think he's valuable to this community? No one is exempt from the rules. Uglyduck, the
administrator for this entire site was once banned.
As far as the mods 'banning' at will...
Threads that are clear flames, trolls or whines are closed. No one is banned for such things, unless they do it over and over and over again. People are punished when they break the rules. Posts telling everyone that HOI is 'broken' over and over and over again clutter the forum and helps no one but the person whining/flaming/trolling. And that's not what these forums are for.
These kinds of threads aren't constructive in
any way, and all 'venting' does is annoy the regulars here, helping
NOTHING.
Show me a pure 'whine' thread from a "HOI pro" that wasn't closed, or a non-redundant constructive criticism thread by a n00b that
was closed...
The Civ2 comment is
1- HOI Event scripting isn't "better" than Civ2s' ToT
2- The AI? That's a judgement call
3- The Civ units work
4- No CTD
Civ 2 Graphics are better, HOI basically has 3 tanks? perhaps 4?
HOI has supply and the map going for it.
@ Constantine XI
See ya all next patch, maybe
Civ 2?
Put a unit on a mountain... watch the AI throw its units at you. Or build 5 catapults and destroy the AI's stacks piecemeal. That doesn't seem like a very balanced game with a great AI to me.
HOI wasn't designed for graphics. If you were playing HOI for the purpose it was made then you'd understand that. It's about the planning, tactics and 'grand strategy'. Civ 2 is a tactically-based game which is based upon units and cities at a tactical level covering all of history. Throw all your units (of one type) at the enemy in large rushes. Where's the strategy there? Archer rushes anyone?
The only differences between different tanks in both HOI and Civ 2 are their stats. I don't see the point you're trying to make with your comment about the different types of 'tanks' in each one. There are over 30 models of tanks you have the opportunity of researching in HOI. How many for each country in Civ 2?
I'm not sure what you were expecting from HOI. It sounds more like your problems are with the game design, than how the game itself actually plays. If that's the case then you're arguing for no purpose. It would be like me saying why strategy games are better than sports games.
