As I've said elsewhere...

OT forum and every other forum here has rules. You follow them or you get punished. Don't like how things went? Send a reasonable and level-headed PM or email to that mod/admin stating your case. You might get unbanned, you might not. Suck it up and take your punishment.

All major decisions are greatly discussed by all the mods/admins/Paradox staff. As quoted by Johan himself "Bolt got off easy". Keep that in mind.

As much as people may disagree with others, everyone has their own opinion. Obviously he thinks that without Bolt HOI is broken. Others of don't agree. If he doesn't respect the work that Paradox has put in that's his right.

Though it does seem kind of silly to say that Bolt's mod makes the difference between a 'great WW2 game' and 'worse than a Civ 2 scenario'.

Never said that, please don't put words in my mouth (post).

I made 2 points

The mods are driving away scenario writers (Bolt)
(Shot a bolt in your foot)

The forum modding is unbalanced. Pro HOI posters can flame at will, posters saying it's broken are banned as flamers. The MECHANICS of the game were 1.02/are? 1.03 broken. Post
that and the Pros are on you. I don't think just getting banned
POs people it's the attitude of the mods ie. parting post shots.
muzzling negative comments.

How many bannings / warnings today?
(most likely can chalk up another  )

Frankly I did like what Bolt did,
I appreciated his UNPAID work. It worked
I PAID for paxadox's work, It didn't work
Unpaid? I'm assuming you didn't see the hundreds of dollars he got from donations at his website. Average it out and I'm sure he got paid more per hour than most of the Paradox staff.

As others have said Bolt himself got off light, but he chose to leave himself. Do you think Bolt should be allowed to do whatever he wants because you think he's valuable to this community? No one is exempt from the rules. Uglyduck, the administrator for this entire site was once banned.

As far as the mods 'banning' at will...

Threads that are clear flames, trolls or whines are closed. No one is banned for such things, unless they do it over and over and over again. People are punished when they break the rules. Posts telling everyone that HOI is 'broken' over and over and over again clutter the forum and helps no one but the person whining/flaming/trolling. And that's not what these forums are for.

These kinds of threads aren't constructive in any way, and all 'venting' does is annoy the regulars here, helping NOTHING.

Show me a pure 'whine' thread from a "HOI pro" that wasn't closed, or a non-redundant constructive criticism thread by a n00b that was closed...

The Civ2 comment is
1- HOI Event scripting isn't "better" than Civ2s' ToT
2- The AI? That's a judgement call
3- The Civ units work
4- No CTD

Civ 2 Graphics are better, HOI basically has 3 tanks? perhaps 4?
HOI has supply and the map going for it.

@ Constantine XI :p

See ya all next patch, maybe
Civ 2?

Put a unit on a mountain... watch the AI throw its units at you. Or build 5 catapults and destroy the AI's stacks piecemeal. That doesn't seem like a very balanced game with a great AI to me.

HOI wasn't designed for graphics. If you were playing HOI for the purpose it was made then you'd understand that. It's about the planning, tactics and 'grand strategy'. Civ 2 is a tactically-based game which is based upon units and cities at a tactical level covering all of history. Throw all your units (of one type) at the enemy in large rushes. Where's the strategy there? Archer rushes anyone?

The only differences between different tanks in both HOI and Civ 2 are their stats. I don't see the point you're trying to make with your comment about the different types of 'tanks' in each one. There are over 30 models of tanks you have the opportunity of researching in HOI. How many for each country in Civ 2?

I'm not sure what you were expecting from HOI. It sounds more like your problems are with the game design, than how the game itself actually plays. If that's the case then you're arguing for no purpose. It would be like me saying why strategy games are better than sports games.

Oh, the customer does'nt understand, he's a moron for complaining that the product he paid for does'nt work.
and in the next line....
"Paradox knows that HOI isn't finished"
And they released it, knowing it was'nt finished

Right, Blame the customer for complaining.
Why are you complaining? Seriously. What does it accomplish for you?

Arguing with you gets me nothing. I'm just trying to find why you feel the way you do but you seem to think that it's the "right" of the customer to complain, and in doing clutter the forum and annoy the 'fanboy' community. This a a public forum with an actual community. The people here don't want to see these kinds of threads over and over again. Please send an email to someone if you want to rant.

And we're NOT talking about AI here but basic unit programming
where 2 humans playing wouldn't be able to use all the units.
or the map (inferstructure)
What do you mean?

I'll get Bolt's work from Bolt thanks, seems you have your
hands full just making excuses. And i notice this is not the only
thread on the topic of disappointment with HOI.
Then I guess you'll be waiting a long time.

Don't you think they have a "right" to complain when sold in
your own words "a half finished product"?

The people here are the ones starting these threads like
"Are you disappointed with HOI"

I'm not ranting, your the one calling posters "noobs" or saying they don't "understand".

I think this board is more interested in selling HOI, than in any
"public forum with an actual community" and complaints galore
don't sell product.
Your last comment is exactly correct. The boards full of complaints don't sell a product. So why do you think they're up then? Paradox obviously isn't fishing for praise.

I ask you what the purpose of complaining is. Please don't tell me that it's to inform Paradox that they released an unfinished product either. As I mentioned earlier, they, and everyone else here already knows that.

Starting a thread "Are you disappointed with HOI" does not have the tone of ranting of flaming. It was a genuine question, and he brought up quite a few things which upset him and how he'd like to see things changed. It was all in a calm cool tone that wasn't demeaning to Paradox or their work at all. The tone of your posts are decidedly more upset and angry, simply lashing out at Paradox, and haven't offered any suggestions. That is the difference.
