So during the latest Blorg stream, the Just League had some rebellions pop up, and join the war against the Blorg on the side of the guys they were seeking independence from. I was just wondering, how will the War Goal and war system work with rebellions that occur to one, or both parties?

My confusion lies with, for example, the Blorg invaded and took a few worlds, then they rebelled, and immediately had a fleet and had retaken the planet (granted, taking back the planet was probably easy when the Ground Huggers went back into orbit...). But if the Blorg used their warscore to end the war, would they still be able to take the rebel planets, even though they didn't technically declare war on the rebels?

The other point I was concerned with, was that if you had a revolution in your empire, wouldn't they be hostile to both you and your invaders? Or is this being reasoned as a case of 'the greater threat first, independence later'?

Well, if the rebellion was still in progress, I guess they'd be able to declare a new war, following the usual rules for doing so. However, I could also see that triggering the rebels making peace with the original empire and forcing a truce.

On the second point, logically, it could go either way so we'll have to see. We need to be a bit careful judging this sort of thing from the Blorg stream, as Wiz has said, since it's a hot build not a stable one, running on a kludged together old save from previous builds *and* the military AI is his current test focus.

I'd hope that the reason for the rebellion and the racial, political and ethical makeup of the rebels has a lot to do with who they fight. They could be rebelling *because* they want to join the invaders - they may have even been part of them historically.

Default would be "hostile to everyone" though, I would think.

Hm, it would be logical to be dependent on the war goals. If I want to take over a rebellious planet, the rebels will be hostile to both sides. If I want to grant their planet independence, they should join my alliance, though.

Agree, but it might be a subtlety that misses the release cut.
