I started a game as Macedon, even when it is said easy and for “noobs” I always find it challenging because soon a very big horde for Tilly’s attacks you

When I managed to control Tillys and going well into the war my ruler died, soon other guy took control and I received an alert of a possible civil war because too many people preferred other heir, and yes after I defeated and signed peace with Tilys the stupid civil war started; I had a big army but already very exhausted and with zero man power; just 3 rebel provinces but very spread out and some provinces started to pop up from time to time more rebel armies so eventually I was defeated in a silly way (see the other post)

There was not way to fix this “other preferred heir” issue before civil war starts?

You can always replace some of those people in the government who support other heir with ones who support your heir. I usually try to get people who are loyal to my ruler and his heir into leading positions.

Thank you for your replies, I checked and the problem was that I had very few people to choose; and even considering other heir there will be lots of other people with other heir preference.

I don’t know if the number of the revolted provinces is random; but I changed what I could, the warning didn’t disappear but this time when the revolt started there was only one revolted province easy to control

Courtiers will prefer another heir if they're not loyal enough, and having the "Become Ruler" ambition will raise the required loyalty level, so it's best to bribe them regularly, or employ courtiers who are loyal and already have some ambition or other. Having a high popularity, family prestige and stability helps, too.

As for being an easy monarchy to start with, that was true before the patch that bugged Tylis (which represents the Celtic migration that threatened Macedonia and Greece at the time). They are still in a good position if you're able to reach peace with Tylis, and other monarchies (such as Pontus and Egypt) are in more precarious positions because of their proximity to the Seleucid Empire, so they're probably still the easiest choice.

You could always start in 477, by then Tylis is a one province minor and the Antigonids are in charge. Other preferred heir is most problematic when there is no clear heir (such as a son or even a brother or other relative to the current king, if all possible heirs are unrelated councillors then they are less likely to support the kings preferred heir) but that should generally not be a problem with Macedonia at that start (it is a problem if you start as say Iberia in 474, but then if you play as Iberia you have even greater problems to deal with such as more powerful neighbours), could still happen if the king dies early though.

Naturally some of them aren't worth bribing and it might be preferable to get rid of them. Unfortunately assasinating or throwing them to jail gives tyranny, but sometimes it's worth it.
