Has anyone had rebellions or been betrayed by any of your generals? Manual talks about them, but I never have experienced any of those. (I always feed people well so dessent rate never go over 3%.)
I want to hear if any of you had a case of them and how things went.

I played the Soviet Union a few games ago with a pretty constant dissent of 20% (I was running with low consumer products to take advantage of the purges and forgot to turn them back after the purges stopped).

So far as I could tell, there were no ill effects. No rebellions, apparently no economic or military consequences, etc.

I tried this being Turkey. I wanted to bring up the shadow cabinet so set the consumer products to 0. When the dissent levels reached 100% I was really excited and was waiting for the rebellion so that I would get either fascist or communist and declare war whenever I want instead of waiting for WE to go up. I waited for 2 YEARS and nothing happened. I got pissed and quit, chose germans, couped Turkey (which installed a fascist regime). Now I can get that Iraqi oil ;)

I can not speak about rebellions, but dissent does seem to affect your economy.

I was playing UK and got an event called Parlimentary Scandal. It raised my Dissent 19%. My economy dropped a small amount. What I found strange is that my consumer goods demand also dropped. I guess the number is driven by your "max" IC production or something so when my dissent reduced my max, then the CG number went down.

As I lowered my dissent, the consumer good demand generally kept pace with my increase in production.

Hmm, seems like rebellion is one of those fancy things in manual never made in current version.:(

There is a thread somewhere on this forum where people talk about some of their Generals disobeying commands etc.

Hanged if I can remember the thread title now :(

While playing a hands-off 1936 Bolted scenario as The Swiss, I got sick and tired off all the daily overtures from the UK to join the Allies, so I set my supplies and consumer goods to 0 and watched dissent rise.

I spent over 2+ years at 100% dissent and had nothing happen. With dissent that high, I couldn't produce anything and was stuck.

I set the U.S.A. to zero consumer goods and put it all in to research. The dissent level reached 100% and the US IC output dropped to zero. The entire US economy fell into the stone age. I couldnt even build consumer goods to lower dissent so I couldn't recover. After a few months of starvation and economic ruin, the leftists overthrew mad man Roosevelt and installed Earl Browder as the Stalinist president.

Wicked cool! I wonder why this didn't "work" for Switzerland and Turkey, though. Could the fact that they are minors be part of it? It seems like this might actually be worthy of a bug post.
