Somewhat related: Does anyone else think "died of a natural death" should be removed? It doesn't appear to have a purpose now with this DLC.

I've had most of my rulers so far die from natural deaths as well as several dynasts. The exceptions were a few childhood cases of the flu, 1 case of childhood cancer, and making one of my characters commit suicide in his 60's because my characters and family apparently have higher than average health and I wanted a change (literally killed the guy right as he became depressed). Seriously, one of my characters survived 30 years of disease/infection/injury to live for another 28 until he was 87 years old. I joke that the guy survived so long by leaching the life-force of his cat and dog.

But on-topic: Yes, cancer should not be a common cause of death for children in game.

Is somebody claiming that it is? Because I just checked my game, which is a few hundred years in and there is a total of 7 children with cancer there. Of all the children in the game. And at a glance, it certainly seems that there are a lot more older characters with cancer than young.

Edit: yep, cancer is much more likely for characters over 45, as per rip_symptom_events.

I don't have a problem with death rates from disease. In fact, like others have said, child mortality rate probably needs to be increased. I have, however, noticed an overabundance of death from cancer. I've actually seen more people die to cancer than any of the epidemics (minus the Black Death of course). Whether its historical or not, I couldn't say, but it does seem a bit odd.

By the way, I should notice. I'm playing pagan (reformed) Finland game now. It's essentially two empires just this minute - Britannia and Scandinavia (plus Saxony, Pomerania and Rus). Yeah, it's quite big country (size 550), it should be noticed.
But the only moment when I hadn't two or three scrolls-sized list of pretendents on "Venerable Elder" (it's for ruler on age 50+) was in the middle of Black Death.
