Some events such as "Spymaster (mother in this case) caught marking with chalk on the wall" fired 7-8 times in about 2-3 months. Also, some events surrounding carrousing fired twice in immediate succesion (e.g. arriving twice at the same feast).

Effects are applied multiple times, so if you get two messages about taxes collected by a steward with 100 gold each you will get 200 gold

This, yes. The effects are applied concurrently.

I see reports of odd things in vanilla since the patch, and it does make me wonder if this is an underlying cause. More concrete info is really required, however, or I'm not sure what Paradox can do with the info.

For what it's worth, I played more or less all day yesterday with the latest patch + HIP mod and didn't run across the bug once. I had seen this issue appear immediately after the Reaper's Due release on a fresh install of CK2. I specifically made sure to never use the "Resign" feature. I have to wonder if this is a part of problem, as was mentioned earlier. I can't say for sure if I've encountered the bug during a fresh session, as another poster indicated they had.

This reminds me of when the EU4 client was patched to restart itself entirely instead of creating a new session of the game. It was explained that this was a cleaner, more bug-free way of ensuring the new session runs properly and doesn't have any artifacts or bugs. I have to wonder if CK2 will do the same now that it is reaching such a point of complexity with its myriad of DLCs and added features.

I don't use the "Resign" feature, myself. I do, however, alt-tab out to the desktop quite a bit, which might be a factor.

Reporting I am getting this too, all DLC sans Conclave, no mods.

I do do a lot of reloading, which obviously means I use the resign a fair bit (in the absense of a straight load button (why this was never something put in at the start of the game design baffles me a bit)).

I have noticed principally the issue on my spymaster's tech, but i've got most of my council on culture tech and the magitros twiddling his thumbs. I have not seen multiples of many other things, however; and I don't know whether the frequency of events like losing traits or getting diseases or randomly going lunatic/possesed (from no existant symtopmatic cause) is supposed to be much higher post Reaper's but they seem to be happeneding quite regularly. In the three-four of so hours I played tonight, events that made the character straight lunatic or possessed appeared three times, something I don't recall seeing in any of the pre-patch games. It might be just unlucky (as I don't recall noting it in prior Reaper's sessions to the same extent), but I figured it ought to be mentioned.

Because reloading savegames causes issues. As does resigning and starting new games. You should restart the game completely to avoid these issues. Unfortunately it isn't an easy thing to fix - as has been discussed many times on the forum before.

Resign/reloading did not appear to cause me any notable problems before the patch or possibly hotfix (bwlieve me, I'd had noticed!)

(I had, once or twice, an odd thing that fired when a viceroyal king died and I'd been playing some time... But I think CK2 has outright CTD'd more times than that occurred in the 170-odd hours I played on 2.5.2 since I started, so I just restarted the game and shrugged it off.)

I appriciate it's well past the plasuibly-fixable stage at this late hour. (Though thankfully, they did appear to be able to implement it in the later games.)

I'm much more interested in CTD issues you had with 2.5.2. I can't see any reports you made about these issues.

But they aren't implemented in later games to my understanding, but actually relaunches game. They could implement that with CK2 also.

I'm much more interested in CTD issues you had with 2.5.2. I can't see any reports you made about these issues.

The occasional CTD I figure isn't worth reporting (especially considering the frequency to play time). Something that happens maybe two or three times in nearly two hundred hours of gameplay isn't something I lose sleep about. (Ditto with those odd instances I mentioned.) Very few games don't CTD occasionally; it's when it does it frequently it becomes a problem.

(CK2 actually crashed about three times on me in succession the very first time I tried to play it - though of course that might be due, now I think about it, of not knowing about the "don't resign and start a new game" when I was first setting up - but only once or twice after that.)

I mentioned only as an illustraive comparison to show how infrequently I had any trouble with resign/reload previously.

The multi-event firing issue is worth noting now because it's happening all the time, not once every fifty or sixty hours. The problem might have always been there (but as I say, I didn't notice any serious issues prior to Reaper's Due), but if so, the patch/hotfix has made it worse.

Well, if nothing else I can confirm it happening in mod-free CK2 with all the "big" DLCs. In particular I get it around Carousing, where I some times arrive at a vassal's feast twice or even thrice. Not as in the Arrive Event fires twice, but as in I arrive, I get event, I leave, and soon enough I arrive once more despite having not been asked again.

noticed this as well. specially with the spymaster tech. Also is anyone else experiencing a crazy amount of illnesses after resigning and continuing? i hear quitting and restarting fully fixes but hoping paradox is getting to work on squashing this

I opened an Ironman game and this seems to have gottene even worse:
- got over 20 seduction attempts from my niece, as William the Conqueror (No means NO damn it! :D)
- got the chance to blackmail two horny subjects 5 times in a row in just two months
- carousing event fired twice

And this is just by 1081 with a 1066 start.

Just letting you know that we are looking into the issue. Problem is that it seems to trigger quite randomly (some with mods, some without, ironman, no ironman, councillors events, diseases etc...) so it's pretty hard to pinpoint the cause, especially since we don't seem to be able to reproduce it here, so we're mostly checking the forum reports, trying some stuff on our end, theorizing, summoning Higher Powers etc...

In order to help us understand more this blasted issue, please mention when you can :
  • What is your OS
  • When you have the issue with the game, on which version of the game did you start it / did you switch from one version of the game to another (ex: started in 2.6.1 and updated to 2.6.2)
  • If you're using any mods
  • Which major DLC you're using
  • What are the events that get machine-gunned / are they always the same ones ?
Thanks in advance for the intel, much loot and phat XP at the end of it.

PS. The resign & reload issue is known & reported, and it might or might not be related (not necessarily as the cause, but maybe as a catalyst), we're not sure.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply.

My OS is Windows 10.

My curren game is in 2.6.2 but started in the Beta version of it. I had the same problem in 2.6.1 though.

I am not using mods in the game (I have downloaded the GoT one, but not used it for months now)

I have all major DLC with the exception of Sunset Invasion.

The ”you are invited to a feast” one most commonly repeats (e.g. I end up playing chess twice), but now I have had 30 seduction attempts spammed from my niece in just a few months. This, however, did not happen in previous games.

And I've just run 8 different starts over the last week. I've not seen a single case of what is described in this thread. It might be an issue with mods being used though, since the a lot of reports here state they are using a mod.

Tried Nomad, tribals(pagans and catholic), feudal and muslims. I've actually found bugs that still haven't been reported - like for instance you can eat half your dynasty and not be considered a kinslayer. If it were as easy to replicate as suggested, surely I would have experienced the issue.

And if it comes down to a mod issue, then it would an issue with the mod.
I have started new games and i get this bug. Only seems to fire on the invite to party. In 2 games now it has done this where i get spammed one after another by the same person for a party. On a side note both toons that had this happen to them died happy of liver failure.

OS - windows 10
started 2 games on 2.6.2
no mods active
DLCS - ALL major
The event that re-fires for me is the invite to party. As soon as I am out it seems to fire again I had to wait to be out of one to preform another action and while that event was on screen the reinvite happened yet again. (sorry i cannot remember which list even i was trying to do)

Are you specifically talking about carousing and not every event as others are suggesting?

This is one of the biggest contributors to me thinking it is confirmation bias. A few people see the same event a few times in a row and it must be a bug.

I know there is an issue with carousing which I was hoping to fault find myself in a month or so. I also know the general cases where it occurs and the likely cause. If you are seeing events other than carousing, I'd be much more interested in which events specifically are firing.

I started my campaign in 2.6.2 Beta, currently running the current patch, all major DLC from the start.

I had two instances of the "wife has Syphilis" event, I didn't realise what had happened until I saw that she had both the "Good Care" and "Bad Care" modifiers, but I do recall clicking the box twice. Initially I thought it was a UI glitch, but it sounds like this same issue of events firing multiple times.
