I have noticed this happening occasionally ever since 2.3. When opening the realm tree and moving the cursor on top of a vassal the game crashes just when the tooltip is supposed to open. It's not too common when it happens and it's not always the first tooltip that crashes the game. While the game is paused, I could be checking several vassals before one down the line finally crashes the game.

This has happened during several different games and it's always that same moment when the tooltip is supposed to appear when the game crashes. I don't know if it would always crash on that same vassal, I haven't managed to get a save that would have had the crash happen on that same day.

I been browsing my vassals by using the realm tree, doesn't crash for me. Are you still having this issue?

What OS are you using?
Which tooltip specifically is the one that crashes the game? E.g. when you hoover over a portrait?
Does it crash when the regular tooltip appears, or when the extended part of a tooltip is shown?
Are you playing as a specific character, or does it happen with any character?
Have you updated the game to the latest version of 2.3.2 (MMUR)? Is it still happening in that version?

You might try to completely re-install the game, by removing it from Steam and also by deleting the "Crusader Kings II" folder in Documents (or equivalent, depending on OS). Just remember to backup any save games you might want to keep!

Just starting a new game, will keep checking for crashes.

I'm using Windows 7.
The crashing tooltip is the one that should appear when hovering over a portrait. It's the very instant when it should appear when CK2 stops working. This is the only time and place I've had it crash, in the realm tree in that exact moment.
Any character and any start date.
The game is up to date, no mods and the checksum is correct. I was using this latest version when I posted this thread. I am sorry for not properly reporting this issue.

I do have some additional details regarding the issue. I always play on ironman mode and I've noticed the crash tending to happen when after my ruler dies, I keep the game paused and check the realm tree to see what the vassals think of my new ruler. I'll have to remember to save after succession to see if I can get it to crash consistently.

I played two games, one from 1337 and the other from Old Gods start, and not once did the game crash during this time. There's two big differences compared to my previous games.
First, I had Way of Life disabled. Second, in these two games I was not using Ultimogeniture so I had way less regencies.

It could be just a coincidence and I got lucky for having no crashes. I will post again if I can find more definitive cause or get a save that can replicate the crash.

Unfortunately it was just a coincidence. Started a third game, still had Way of Life disabled and was using gavelkind and the game crashed right after succession to my adult son when I was checking the realm tree. This time I saved on that same day when it crashed but I could not get it to crash again after loading the game no matter what I did.
