I like Olaus' method of adapting the breakaway events, although as mentioned before I'd personally go with having a series of events to penalise, where the player has a choices to keep a particular vassal loyal at a price (be it in terms of gold, prestige, piety, etc.) or to say "To hell with you..." and net something like a 20-30% loyalty drop. Or maybe worse, if dip. level is bad or certain traits are in effect.
Or, my own event I've had some fun with, is setting a string of vassals against each other by mimicing a feud. The liege has a choice of ruling in favour of one faction (+ loyalty 2 vassals, -loyalty 5 vassals), the other faction (same effect, but different vassals) or trying to force a compromise (-prestige, no direct effect on loyalty but a 25% chance of having -loyalty to all 7 affected vassals).
Generally I've tried to add in a few more EU2-style realm / character events, 90% of which are to the detriment of the player. Sorry, SecondReich, but I'm amongst those who favour making the game less straightforward for the player.
Its just my personal opinion of CK, but I believe that WC should be possible, but the larger the realm the proportionately larger the headaches. Currently, this isn't really true given that large realm = unstoppable military, meaning that the larger you become, ironically, the more stable you become barring events such as the recent realm disruptions which, whilst bugged and clearly in an early beta stage, at least mean that large kingdoms can get kicked in the teeth.
I'm also a fan of guiding CK to more accurately model the historical precedents. Few people, if any, were ever 100% loyal, and it seems daft that you can keep them that way so relatively easily. As a result, I like events that regularly shake a kingdom's foundations or cause scandals, so that you're forced to look at internal problems as well as just external ones. If they can sort the primary / other heir triggers then I'd also add in the chance of non-primary heirs contesting the line of inheritance by military means. Your family, after all, should be all at once your greatest ally and your worst enemy.
Finally, CSK...if by "in-game message" you're talking about the text of the event, you can find it in an Excel document in the events folder. extra_text.csv, if memory serves. Search for the event ID and you'll get a data entry for the event text, followed by the text for the options offered. Its pretty easy to see how it works if you take a look.
