My attempt to make a realistic North American city. This is my second city so keep that in mind...
This city is not finished...
Population ∽75 000

I haven't unlocked all the 25 tiles yet(need 82 000 population), but I can already tell that the 25 tile map is too small for my cities :( I would like to have rural/farming areas next to the city....but nooooooo...

Here you can clearly see the difference of the old grid and new areas.

Skyline from the other side of the river. I think that the Freedom Tower might be too high. I may change it to some lower building, it looks a little out of place to my eye....

Noice, actually looks really realistic for a North American city!

That looks great! I think the freedom tower might a bit tall for where it is at, as well.

However, if you can move it across the highway and turn it into the central focus of what I'm assuming will be your main or 'historical' skyline as your city grows, I think you would easily be able to keep it (if you want to). It might meld with the city's look better over there as those towers seem to be a bit taller anyway and the spires will help them 'cheat' a bit. As for the ground level I'd say leave some room around for parks/paths etc to show the importance of the building in your city as well as justify the extra height by "widening" the base.

I also like the way you set up those high-rises by the industrial, and that modern church.

Anyway, just my 2 cents, enjoy your city. I like it. :D
