I think Paradox should add an in-game feature where when you click on the battle you are having you can see the whole action. Here's an example:

One side versus the other side, a new game mechanic, a simple one of course a one like an RTS simulation shown below

It could be like the naval battle mechanic one but with tanks, mototrized trucks and airplanes

What would this add to the game? If anything it would make me feel less immersed.

If everything is abstract I can pretend that things are really happening, in real cities and hills and fields. I don't want to pretend I'm playing a board game (not that I dont love board games)

Well maybe thats only you. I prefer seeing tge action and experiencing it rather than imagining it.

I might have 30+ land battles taking place every hour during a typical Barbarossa. If I understand your suggestion correctly, I'd have to click through 30 minutes of these simulations every game hour under those circumstances, and that assumes only 1 minute of simulation for each battle taking place.
