Edit: They finally released some game play! Link to Quill18 YouTube Video
The articles that we got from the #HOI4EVENT was priceless. While most of them were filled with things we already knew about, like the state of the game, the best part is the fact they left confused. If they were to sit down and figure the game out after 3 quick matches, then the depth would not have been there. I know you can say that some of it was because of lack of development, but I offer the majority of it was lack of knowledge about the complexities of the game. I think someone has been forgetting to read the monthly DD's. It seems that the more the participant knew about HOI in general the better the article came out.
The small peak of the supply system seem interesting, as seen on the article about the player who was Brazil. Subsequently losing half his troops in the amazon based of a poor choice made with ships. All the mistakes that they rushed into showed quickly that if you go bill early in the game, you get wrecked. This is the way it should be for a 1936 start with an early belligerent country. The German play felt the pressure and realized he can't just jump around doing whatever he wants with units that he put together himself, he has to use the equipment and templates in that era for that specific country.
While the articles lacked substance and there is a huge cry for at least some game play footage, the outcome of bad articles lets us know that it's still not a game for the game hopping 3D candy kids. The thought that someone of EUIV or CKII can feel that same feeling they felt the first time they played those games it great! The amazement of things you can do and the immersion that follows. It's much better than HOI3 in ever aspect so far in my humble opinion, my biggest complaint so far :
Where are the National Dogs I was promised? I heard the rumor of Dinosaurs, plz confirm.
