I don't like the current system where the unique buildings are sorted under levels rather than type of buildings. It makes it very hard to find things.
Along with a complete re-organizing it would be nice with some new unique buildings for our cities. We got some in the new DLC that CO haven't done anything at all to market.
It would also be neat if these buildings had a bigger impact. It's a little boring when they are only used for tourism. At the very least they need workers. But some, or most, of the buildings should get other purposes too. Some may give extra options. Others may just give fun (but probably useless) facts relating to the buildings and the city.
Potential sub-menus I can think of right away would include:
* Parks (However, I do support the idea that parks should not be pre-made square so this one could easily become obsolete. If custom parks become a reality maybe we could get some unique monuments and props to plop in our parks?)
* Plazas (Same as parks, but even with custom parks we may still be able to use a few pre-made plazas)
* Monuments (Same as parks. Some pre-made monuments could still be useful even with custom parks.)
* Stadiums (Everything relating to sports. We could stadiums for a lot of different sports. I'm surprised that a Finnish company hasn’t given us 30 hockey arenas yet)
* Headquarters (We already have a few, like the Colossal Order HQ. But we could get a lot more to spice up our skyline. Dino Oil HQ?)
* Shopping (I think big shopping centers should be zoned. But we need bigger zones for that so for the time being they could have their own sub-menu)
* Museums (Museums can have a lot of different themes and there could be dozens in a city)
* Tourism (The Aquarium would go here for example)
* Leisure (Anything that gives leisure to the citizens. The Opera House would go here I guess.
* Local Governance (The buildings aimed at local governance like a Tax Office and maybe a City Hall)
* National Governance (For those scenarios when the city is really big and the capital of the country. Different types of Government buildings and HQs.)
I’ve probably missed some good category. But the main point will always be the same.
