Rare ones I've seen:
- Aquileia (I don't think this'll be rare for long, as anyone with a grudge against Venice tends to punch it out of them)
- Lebanon
- Tafilalt
- Northumberland
- Zaporozhie
- Nizhny Novgorod
- Doughlat
- Khalkha
- Zunghar
- Bashkiria
- Qasim
- Danzig (which, being Catholic, never formed Prussia despite owning all the required provinces)
- AI-formed Ruthenia

I've yet to see York, Lancaster, Habsan, Khandesh, the Jalayirids and one or two of the really out-there hordes, to name a few.

Krakow is pretty rare. Have seen it only once. Perhaps it's because Poland sometimes forget to take the decision to move their capital to Warsaw.

Seen Krakow atleast twice :)

Sharjah, easily. Without cores or a culture to revolt from they're doomed to never show 99.9% of the time.

Also Astrakhan, the Beyliks just because Turkey is stronk now, and a few Indochina nations none whom I can name off the top of my head

I've actually seen Aquilea twice recently, not sure why. I've never seen the AI form Prussia, Westphalia, Hannover, or Germany. I've only seen HRE form once in well over 1000 hours.

Aquelia and Transylvania have had cores added in recent patches, which means they're now going to be as common as any initially dead country, rather than non-existent as they were before.

This is way out of date and I stopped updating it when imgur cut me off of more uploads.
http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...quot-Nations!&highlight=guide+to+rare+nations

There are three tags that you will never find to have cores at any start date:
Lancaster
York
Jalayirids

And formerly Aquileia, but they finally got cores. They, like the Jalayirids, were EUIII leftovers.

All other tags have cores or sovereignty at some start date, many of them are in that thread but its pre-Art of War so very incomplete.

Some notable ones, are Italian minors like Parma and Etruria, as well as Meissen who has a core in Saxony's capital in 1444 so is rarely seen. Also many Indochina nations like Tonkin, Luang Prabang, Vientiane, Champassak, and Annam.
Also there are 9 Daimyos that don't exist in 1444.

I've seen York and Styria. (Not on current patch, but in the last few, I think.) York when England lost the 100 Years War, Burgandy declared on them and the Wars of the Roses hit at the same time, and they were just shattered.

I think Styria showed up when Venice beat up on an Austria already down on it's luck, and force released it.

Cornwall is a country in my current game. Not sure what happened (I am Ottomans and my attention was elsewhere at the time). Probably Wars of the Roses at a bad point. I've seen Wales a few times, too.

Oh! I've seen all the French minors, I think - I had one game where France was just eviscerated, and made to release everything. (Not me - coalition war featuring Castille, Burgundy, and Austria.)

I've never seen York or Lancaster. I remember when Catalunya was a rare one, but now you can beat it out of Aragon. The same goes for Aquelia and Venice.

The rarest one I've seen was Doughlat. It broke off of an Oirat blob and thus was a Buddhist horde. Next up is Sharjah, which I've seen twice break off of Oman blobbing in Arabia.

There was another horde that pops up with the right rebels, I think it's Khalka.

I've just realized that I've never seen Epirus or Saruhan.
Epirus seems to form a little more often lately.
j4QK4GS.jpg

Though because I play in Ironman, I rarely see them revolt away, at least without direct player intervention. They only succeeded in this case because the Ottomans were fighting a war and completely neglected their rebels.

I've never seen a nation like York or Lancaster form out of nothing though.

Kiev. I didn't even know they existed until I played a Byzantium game. With my help Bosnia beat the tar out of Hungary. This left Hungary slightly smaller and very depleted and they had rebels all over. I just assumed they were peasants. Imagine my surprise when KIEV came into being. I vassalised them and fed them Hungary.

I see Tirol sometimes when Austria gets brutally dissected, which is not too rare. Zaporizhia can definitely happen sometimes, but it's rare. All the others I have never seen, except for Aquilea and Lancaster which i've only seen once.

Jalayirids almost unquestionably has to be the most difficult tag to force-spawn - the area they should be in is Iraqi culture while their primary culture is Mongol.

It's possible they could spawn in the Mongolia area as well but it seems that countries with existing cores get priority in nationalist spawn chance.

Sharjah is a pretty rare Beduoin tag to see, as well.
