Rarest Tags. Has anybody seen York and Lancaster?

Yes there are such countries in this game. According to wiki; they also exist in files. What I still don't know is how the hell they appear? Did anybody see them?

Anyway, what are the rarest, most obscure countries you seem to never see in a game or see and be genuinely surprised?

My personal rarest are: York, Lancaster, Nizhny Novgorod, Aquilea, Tirol, Styria, AI Romania, Zaporozhe, Bashkiria.

Bonus fun fact: it wasn't mentioned in patch notes but there is Jewish country in 1444. Well, not alive but potential to release: Semien Kingdom, it's one Jewish province and OPM rebel tag in Ethiopia. Someone has to do a WC with them.

I see Tirol whenever something goes very wrong for Austria in the early game, but, oddly, never Styria. I suspect that the cost of force-releasing it is around or above 100%. I've also seen Zaporozhe once, a long time ago, but all the rest you mentioned never happen.

I've also never seen Luisiana or UPCA, in fact I don't believe I've seen any other colonial nation more than once.

There's also plenty of Indian nations that don't have a core at the beggining, existing only for the later starts, and, since India is so deeply saturated with cores already, never appear.

I only ever got to see York and Lancaster a grand total of one time in EU3, but not once in over 1000 hours of EU4.

Aquilea and Styria seem pretty common in my games though.

New world former colonial nations seem to form more frequently with the liberty desire changes.

York and Lancaster don't start with any cores, so they can't show up baring some exceedingly rare circumstances involving rebels. If it's even possible anymore, I'm guessing it would require a province with English culture, no English-primary cores, and no neighboring English-primary country. A culture-shifted England can probably force the issue.

Tags that are in the game, but never appear to me are Etruria (which is pretty much Napoleonic client state of Tuscany, I don't see why would it have its own tag) and Rev. France (this tag is no longer in use since AoW and is disabled it in random nations). Also even when there is decision to form Wesphalia and Hannover, some events that give them cores, I haven't seen them.

I saw Lancaster in my first game of EU4 - I had conquered Southern England as Portugal while Scotland had conquered the North. The North then rebelled and formed Lancaster. But that was back in 1.6.

Mmm that is weird I clearly suffered from Oda rebels while playing as Japan once.

I'm pretty sure those tags in the files are for CK2 converted games. That is why you never see them

Added in AoW with the breakup of Ukrainian cores, IIRC.

I'm pretty sure those tags in the files are for CK2 converted games. That is why you never see them

They're legacy tags from earlier games and earlier designs for the war of the roses.

So can Oda and Tokugawa appear at all? I'd like to unite Japan as Tokugawa, as in history (also they have nice flag) not some gay sounding Ouchi

I've seen York two or three times, but keep in mind I have over 1,000 hours logged into EUIV so I'd say it's quite rare.

Yeah, the only time I saw them was similar. I had conquered England, as Hansa, along with some Scottish, Irish, and Welsh help. The initial round of nationalist rebels was the ENG tag. But once they were defeated, the provinces that would generate nationalist rebels switched to LAN, then to YOR.

I've seen Parma and Aquilaiea, too, in similar situations. These were also in earlier versions, though, so I won't swear it's the same, given some of the changes to the rebel system.

I saw parma form (1460's) from the corpse of savoy while the province of parma was still owned by milan. When the rebels beat savoy they took everything in 1444 savoy minus savoie. It was really neat to see. They eventually finished the job a few years later.

I saw both once as the result of the rebels(I think I have even screenshot somewhere... I'll look for it when I get home). Then Lancaster proceeded to ally with Scotland and absorb York after which it created England again.

Oda and Tokugawa tags only appear later, not in 1444. You have to start somewhere when Nobunaga was alive.
