Greven & Sapura,

Speaking of rank, aren't you tired of sharing the 'Sole Defender' title with with each other? I propose that the two of you battle it out, mano-a-mano in a Grand Campaign. The winner gets to keep the 'Sole Defender' title and the loser has to become 'Grand Patriarch of the True Orthodox Faith' or else 'Grand Inquisitior of the Counter-Reformation' or something else distinctive. You still keep the same number of stars, of course.

Rofl ...

I think we'll let that 'discussion' go into the mists of time. Either that, or we'll shake hands on a draw and flame our fraternal comrades, the Russians ;)

I didn't think you read through that never ending thread, Dean? :)

Is the reference here to the De La Gardie thread? If there was another one that was even more esoteric than that I'd like to know about it.

BTW - exactly what type of student were you before you transformed into a French HM? ;)

Jim,

It's the discussion titled 'Polish-Swedish wars' I think. It actually has quite a lot of military information (both from the Polish and Swedish perspective) on the 1614-1629 war between the two, a long with fleeting mentions of a previous / later war.

Here tis, http://www.europa-universalis.com/forums/Forum1/HTML/000200.html

Read by all means, just don't open the discussion again, please ;)

French HM? :)

Sap,
Due to your combination prolific posting and detailed descriptions I peeked at your profile when I first joined the site. If I'm not going crazy (always a possibility) I think I recall your previous occuption description as a **** student; I can't recall what the **** was because I didn't know what it meant at the time. At any rate, I now see that it's been replaced with a description of 'French Handmaiden' <chuckle>.

Sooooooo, I guess I was too oblique in my earlier post, and now I hope I'm not being too pedantic. Just curious on your background on how you came to know all this good stuff about European history. If this is something you'd rather pass on in this forum, then please disregard. :)

Aye, 'tafe' student. Was doing a computing course, but finished it now.

Hmm, should I change it to Polish Handmaiden? :) Or perhaps Aussie..

Actually, compared to Sir Greven and Matthew 'English Ahoy!' Walhead, I know very little about European history. I do know a lot about central European / eastern Europe and am learning a large amount about Scandinavian now. Hopefully in the last 6 months both Poles, Swedes and westerners have gotten benefit from all the posts about EU / contributions / historic bits and pieces.

In actuality, I've learnt more about history testing this game, being on this beta forum than reading books, which just shows at what state historians are releasing their books at :(

Yes, I agree those two fine gentlemen are extremely knowledgeable on European History. Of course two remaining points of curiousity:
1. 'tafe' is this computer lingo or Aussie dialect for something?
2. The French component wasn't what caught my attention. So go with Polish or Aussie or whatever nationality applies. Rather the second half of that description was, well... shall we say - curious. I had made certain assumptions based on your description of extra-curricular activities in the Azores.

Yes, Sap. I read that whole debate. What a slugfest. There was a good amount of meat on that bone (historically speaking) if you eliminated the Swedish and Polish fluff that was stacked on top. Well at least for a U.S. educated citizen terribly lacking in an indepth knowledge of Eastern European history.

Nah, 'Tafe' is basically the equivalent of a college in America, though not a UNI.

Perhaps I should change it to 'Lover of French Handmaidens', hmm yes ..

Heh. Yes once in a while there was actually a bit of decent information on Swedish / Polish military history :)
