I was playing as Patrician and I had two really good heirs. But then without any warning I noticed my heir changed and I do not have any of my two heirs available. One of them became marshal in some random country and the other one randomly became Mayor or some city outside of the realm.
Soon after I died heir-less.
How and why did it happen? When I tried to invite one of them back (marshal) it said that he is higher rank than me, but he was only a marshal?
I did not marry either of them, they were just chilling in my court until they went away. Is it possible AI invited them to their courts since they had attractive stats?
I am not too bad about all this since I had some insanely back luck this run, like opening gates right after disease ended, then immediately another one spawning in right in my county, while my gates are still on cooldown so I could not shut them down, so I was got disease and died. Or my ruler and his heir both dying of cancer etc. I would just like to understand what exactly happened to my heirs.
