I've got universal sufferage, sorry i should have mentioned that, and also the State and Governmet tech hasn't been discovered yet although I'm trying to get it to sort the whole thing out 'cos I hate the Liberals free trade policy and the lazzais faire thing.

How about your conservative pops con ? Is it as high as the Liberals ?

I hope i got this right, but as far as i understand, the con has an influence on whether they actually vote or not.

Suprise, suprise I've got another question, is there a way of looking at how long alliances last, I've goty some alliances that never seem to end and others that finish after a couple of years?

Alliances last for 5 years. However, alliances between satellites and their masters last indefinitely.

A random question for which I didn't want to start an extra thread:
I started playing Victoria a week ago having played EU2 extensively for the last year and in my third game (I'm playing USA in the vanilla 1836 scenario using Victoria 1.03c with VIP 0.4 installed) I noticed in 1860 that Russia had colonized colonized a large part of Africa (take a look if you want).

Is something like this unusual? Did my war with the UK (1838-1846) have something to do with this?
I noticed that they were at war with China that entire time as well which is probably why they never landed a single soldier in North America. However the Royal Navy prevented any landing attempts in the British Isles and the Ottomans sent 3 divisions to Washington once. I just had to get them to agree to a white peace after the liberation of Canada and that took some time.

I'm not surprised by your message and I don't understand why you sent it. In almost every game I played so far(I've had the game since christmas so thats quite a few) Russia have coinized huge lumps of east Africa, I just assumed they did that because the point oif the game is to change history, isn't it.

I've just had another one of those moments were you wish the desingers of this game were standing next to you, so you could punch them.I've been playing a highly entertaining game as Austria and tonight I declared war on the Ottoman's with Russia as my ally to seize Bosnia. Halfway through the war Britain joins in on the Ottomans side and amphibiously lands over 100,000 troops in north Italy, and what does the game do? NOTHING. I got no pop up message telling me they were ther until they had taken the province, now that they've got a secure beachhead they're over running my empire and I've had to pull all my troops out of Ottoman territory to fight the Brits, losing all my gains. I hope the desingers of the gamne read these fourms because all I'm asking for is a simple little message to tell me that I'm being invaded so I can respond before the enemy get dug in. Its the obvious thing to do. Now I'll probably leave my Austrian game and find a new one to start, what a waste of time. Thanks a lot Mr.Victoria Game Desiner whoever the hell you are! (Sorry about the spelling mistakes but I'm quite angry as you can probably understand)

Yeah, that irritates me too. I wish a message would pop up when your territory is violated, not just conquered. With how slow Vicky scrolls on my computer, checking constantly to see if I'm invaded makes my head hurt.

etc...

I'm guessing that when you chose which scenario to play you chose "Grand Campaign (1836)" (the one at the top of the list) rather than "VIP Grand Campaign v0.4" or "VIP Grand Campaign (Lite)" (the 2 at the bottom of the list). If this is the case you are not playing VIP at all: you are actually playing vanilla Vicky. And in vanilla Vicky any country can colonise anywhere it wants to at any time. If you want more historically based colonisation outcomes choose one of the two VIP campaigns to play.

If you garrison your coastal/border provinces, then you will get a pop-up message alerting you to them being under attack. This is actually feasible for a relatively compact country like Austria - obviously a nightmare for many other nations.

Feasible? When your fighting a war you don't leave troops lying around doing nothing, you use them, and that was one thing I forgot to mention in my origanal post, I kind of ran out of men which is suprising when at the start of the war I over 1million of them

If you are fighting the UK, then troops garrisoning your coast are not "doing nothing", they are (hopefully) preventing a landing which would require a much greater diversion of forces. Austria has only a limited number of coastal provinces which need a garrison (the ones at head of Adriatic) - the tail of the Croatian coast is less important, as UK troops would be little closer than if they had landed in OE territory.

If this is the case you are not playing VIP at all: you are actually playing vanilla Vicky

Is this completly true ?
You will be playing with vanila events, but i seem to remember having done exactly that and still experiencing some of the VIP adjustments (like needing MP for railroads), or is it my memory playing tricks on me ?

Hey Bruk, know that I perfectly understand you :D .

But OTOH... what if the game was simply bad? Such horrible thing would not happen at all since you wouldn't even bother to quit your game :p . I mean that the better the game, the better your expectencies (spelling?).

Poor game disigners! What a hard life! They are either godly and do perfect job, either quite good and get punched for their mistakes or bad and starving... :( :(

That might be true, because Vicky does not have moddir. But if you want to play VIP you MUST choose one of the 2 VIP Grand Campaigns at the bottom of the list.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks like that then. Wouldn't it be cool if in the future you could have a holographic projection of the designer to either applaud, ask questions or in my case, beat the living s**t out of.

Got another question, it's a problem I've had a few times and it really annoys me. I was happily playing a rather good game as Belgium today when I noticed my income had fallen dramaticly( I'll try not to make it sound like a TV soap) I let the game run on and saw what was happening, my tarrif income kept rising and falling in a reacuring pattern, one day I'd get about £35 the next only £15.
It's stopped now but it's not the first time it's happened and it is really annoying, can anyone help? :(

Sounds like you have a shortage of an input for one of your factories. Check p11 of the ledger - any inputs you are short of on that day will be listed. Note that if for example your reg clothes factory requires 0.40 fabric, and you are only producing 0.20 fabric (and aren't buying any fabric on the WM), then each 2nd day your reg clothes factory won't produce anything, to allow your fabric stockpile to build back up to 0.40. Then on the 2nd day it will use the 0.40 fabric to produce the reg clothes and the cycle will repeat. So, on every 2nd day you will be selling reg clothes and on every other day you won't. This will cause a see-saw in your tax (and tariff) income, which is what you are seeing. There will be a saw pattern on the little production graph on the interface also, which is the dead giveaway for knowing when you have input shortages. The way to solve it is to sort your production (or WM buy orders) out so that you eliminate the input shortages.
