Okay another question from me.
In my current game as Belgium, I have managed to ignore crime fighting. As a result ALL my provinces are now corrupt.

I am trying to do something about this, putting crime fighting costs to around 60% on the budget slider, but either nothing happens at all or if some province is successfully ridden of corruption, a few months latter its back to normal (normal in this game = corrupt ;) )!

I want to know is this a WAD with the game? I want to know if it is worth my while trying to fight the corruption at this stage or just give up, because I dont even see the benefits of fighting it as it is.

Fighting = £4 surplus per day in budget
Ignoring = £44 surplus per day in budget.

Looking forward to your views!
Thanks
Well, I would say at that stage you should give up. Crimefighting is a luxury, having a fat bankroll in preparation for the next war and upgrading your RRs is much more important.

However, when you can build up a bankroll and have your RRs in good shape, I then put crimefighting at 100%. It takes a few years to eliminate crime, but it is bad to have crime buildings. I generally only play with two crime fighting settings: 0% and 100%. I wouldn't consider 60% as actual crime fighting, I think at 50% you just kind of tread water getting as many buildings as you lose.

Ok, I have some more questions. What is the best monthly manpower gain that I should aim for? Also how do I ship natives from colonies back as slaves?

You can't ship slaves in the game. I think even asking about that is a no no, and the slave trade was pretty much gone by this period of history anyway.

For the manpower question, there isn't an answer for that. If I am at peace and not looking for a fight, I might demobilize my military and be happy staying at negative manpower. When war comes, if your defense spending is 100% converting pops into soldiers results in instant manpower, so that will work.

If I am in a really brutal war, getting 40 mp a month may not be enough. (and at that point I will resort to converting more pops every month to fuel my war machine)

What the hell is the point of building tank and aeroplane factories in the game?
Fair enough you can sell them and make profit from the factories, but why do other countries actually buy them, when, as far as I can see you cannot even use them in war?

I just finished a game as Belgium (by the way this is my first ever game I have finished in Victoria) and I built myself an aeroplane factory. I wasn't exactly dissapointed that I couldn't build any airplane units, since I can understand the game mechanics, and furthermore I was a peaceful nation anyway.

But what is the point in both of the above? Can you actually build tank and airplane units?

Since I am asking these questions too, why is there no substitute unit for a steamer transport? A steamer transport reminds of the steam boats that would be steaming down the Mississippi. Surely by WW1, they had more sofisticated means of transporting troops across seas?

Tanks can be used as kick ass brigades for your units but the aeroplanes are pretty useless

Righto, so tanks can be added to cavalry, dragoons and infantry divisions? And if so how is it activated, do you need to have some actual tanks in stock first?

Personaly dragoon divisions should be phased out in the game at some point.

I need help again!!! :( :( :(
I've just started a game as the French and the only major thing I've done is annex Algeria but my economy is in tatters! I'm only making £15 a day and thats with me cutting Education and crime fighting and defence. I've been building lumber and cement factories and reaserching commerce techs but it isn't making much difference. AND my trade tariffs are only bringing in £30 a day when at the start of the game they were making about £50, the drop happened when I bought 50 new small arms from the WM, it just instantly fell! I don't know what to do!!!!!!!

P.S All taxes are at 50%, which is as high as they can go.
