Did you check the link? It has a fairly specific description of what you need to do.

EDIT: Didn't see your second post there; I'm guessing you're covered.

They earn money from your exports. Then they pay their taxes. Then they buy what they need from the WM and pay tarifs over that. The things they bought will be greyed out, the things they lack will be red. As soon as they have anything they need/ can get they will start to save their money. So: dont stock stuff for your people, but sell it on the WM!

aaa ok ok :D so, they are buying things without me, on WM, yes? There is no need for stocking resources...so, the saving depends of my export...uf, it's small, but never mind...at least, I know what's the problem...
But what's with labourers, farmers, crafstmen?? Do they earn money from export? Is it the same thing as with high class??

All of your POPs (except slaves) earn money from your exports, with more of it being distributed to your middle class POPs and a lot more of it again being distributed to your rich POPs. For your POPs to be able to buy more of their needs you need to get your export income up, and to do this you need to industrialise. (The other way is to lower taxes / tariffs, but industrialising is the better long term solution.)

Having a large colonial empire is usually detrimental to you POPs' wealth, since you get more POPs without a proportinately larger income to cover their share of your exports.

Same as everyone else, they get a share of your total export income, though a colonial POP gets half the share a similar state-based POP gets.

My pojnt was that when you havce a colonial empire, you have lots more POPs, without having that much more factory- and RGO-income. In total, you make more money, but divided amongst your (more numerous) POPs, it becomes less per POP, which in turn makes for poorer POPs.

Here is a random question: when you start as the Ottoman Empire, you have shitloads of unemployed factory workers, but no means to put them to work in the immediate future. What do you do to keep these guys from immigrating? Let them sit there or convert them into farmers/labourers?

Unemployment Benefits. Keeps em around when there jobless. A better option at games start is to use your starting MP to build a bunch of low level factories(lumber, fabric, steel, cement, glass, ect.) or upgrade exhisting factories. Your unemployed pops wont leave that quickly, they will stick arond long enough for those factories to be built.

Hope that helps...

The OE starts without(!) the tech to build factories. But seriously, dont think about them, the OE has plenty of Arabian POPs in its influence sphere :)

I have a very big problem, whenever I play a game trade tarrifs are my main income but when a free trade party comes along I'm screwed, can anyone give some advice on how to increase tarrif income or the income of anything else when free trade is around, apart from obvious things like commerce techs.

Hmmm... to be honest, if you get a free trade party early on your in trouble... The only way out may even be to tax the poor at 100% for a year or 10... later when you have a decent industry and good techs running at only 20% taxes or something like that should be no problem... Sorry, no real advice on this I'm afraid. (Ow, well, one advice then, if your a democracy keep your people conservative by low taxes, high tarifs so there wont be a free trade party in power ;))

Question about the OE event after the Crimean War...Apparently you get 4 free techs and 40 RPs for losing the war. Reading the event file it seems this kicks in in 1856? Anyway, I just settled the war for a white peace. That means I won't get the event, right?
