A good search-term would be "No Time Limit Mod". The FAQ has a couple of links to them, but I'm not sure how much work has been done on them lately.

Does anyone have a clue about what can get the AI to offer peace? It is fustrating that the AI will refuse basically any peace offer but offers peace rarely on its own.

I was Germany in a rather heated war with France when Austria DOWed me. I decided I'd just let Austria do whatever it wanted and stayed 100% committed in France. I offered all of Bavaria several times, but Austria refused. Finally it had about half of Germany (including Berlin) and offers me peace for just 3 provinces. They could have had a better deal than that on the first day of the war.

In my limited experience, it helps a lot to have a military score well in excess of the AI. I suspect the AI is programmed to think that it will improve its position (relative to now) if it has higher mil score, but that things will get worse if it has lower mil score. Accordingly, AI will tend to consider current losses as temporary and soon to be reversed, if it has much higher military score - hence the common difficulty in bringing UK to peace (since it usually has highest military score).

I have a technical question that has nothing to do with Victoria but it is kinda random, how in the name of Hell do you start a sticky poll?, I've read the FAQ's bit and tried what it says but it doesn't work. HELP!!!!!!!!

Only mods and admins can create polls; send a PM to e.g. Dark Knight outlining what you would like to make a poll out of, and if the mod/admin thinks it's a good idea, he/she will pollify it for you.

Back to Victoria: I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how exactly the WM works.

Most of the time, the supply - according to the trading screen - of most goods is just 1 unit. It changes every day so if it is additive, I suppose there's a fair amount of supply of every good over the year.

BUT: if I change my purchase order to increase e.g. by 50 units, that commodity I will usually buy straight away. How is this possible if the supply is just 1 per day?

Are you sure that the "1" doesn't represent the curren tstock of the WM? And that the daily supply/demand is different from it?

while speaking of trading...
is it possible, somehow...to make monopoly on some material??
for exapmle, conquer the most of countries with oil, and deside not to sell it on the market?? will this change the price and shortage of oil??
this could be interesting strategy if you are not great power...:D

Yeah, but by that point you pretty much rule the world.

One viable tactic is sulphur withholding. Just take over all the sulphur-producing provinces, and set to buy. Suddenly, no one can make ammunition, small arms, explosives, or artillery. Therefore, no new divisions and no new fancy ships.

Another, more indirect tactic is dye withholding, which is easy to do in the beginning of the game if you're the British Empire. Suddenly, no one can make clothes, so no one can promote craftsmen, clerks, clergymen, or capitalists, as they all need reg. clothes or lux. clothes. Of course, once Dye Factories are discovered, this is circumvented. So it is best to get dye monopoly as early as possible.

Also, withholding machine parts as the UK will slow down every other nation's industrial development by about 20 years.

My comment was primarily meant for Caudillo's benefit (and yes, I know I should've/could've quoted him to make it clearer ;))
