What were you building? Could be that new buildings/districts opened up new jobs and pops switched to those, from more vital ones.

Then again, your consumption rates seem really high for some resources. Did your production tank or did your demand spike?

I built more "City sectors" I think they are named. That was all

Yeah, this is pretty much the problems I've been having. Even using the market exploit doesn't really help, because you have no idea why it's happening, so you are stuck in debt.

I'm pretty sure stability affects resource production, but not to the degree that this should be happening.

If one ressource is missing you'll get a massive malus for the other. It's like a cascade and it's very different when you act too late. I guess preventing this situation with the help of the global market or having big reserves is your only chance. Especially when you are conquering something your econony you will have so much negative income. It's hard to see why, so much micromanagement is needed: check your normal and rare ressources income, pop stability on your new planets and take down those unnecessary buildings immediately.

Do you have loads of free jobs on your planets? If so new pops may immediately be joining specialist jobs which convert basic resources into advanced ones. But if there aren’t enough people working worker jobs to get those basic resources it begins to fall apart.

My theory is that you went to 0 in one resource, which caused maluses to all other production and crashed your economy. Seems pretty horrible.

I'd try to fix this first by pausing the game and then selling all my surplus for credits (you sti8ll have some minerals to sell) and try to buy everything just enough so that it's not red. That should remove "missing resource" malus which should the show your "true production". You could also lower your citizen's living standards and deactivate labs and other non-essential buildings.

I have produced the situation again. As my stellaris said low on ressource "Jobs" shit went down very quickly.

Also I noticed you immediately get a malus to the output of all jobs when there's a strategic resource shortage (or maybe when there's shortage of any resource?)

The malus associated with a resource shortage depends on the resource in question.
Energy affects ship damage, shield hitpoints, army damage and mineral output
Food affects biopop happiness and growth rate
Consumer goods affects pop happiness and research output

Don't know about the others, but presumably alloys and minerals both have their own separate and nasty effects.

But doesn't that throw up an alert box? I don't see how this can happen without you knowing what happened.

The thing is , That every resource income goes from a good (+25 to +80) to (-115 to -225) all of a sudden. I dont think this is how it should be

I've never seen anything like that. Don't know what to tell you. Unless you really did run out of one resource. Than can set off a death spiral if you don't immediately trade for more, yeah.

Only after wars? It sounds like you might be taking a lot of territory and going way over your admin cap, generating a lot of penalties. If the planets you captured aren't producing much due to 'recently conquered' penalties or something like that it can seriously compound the situation.

Oh, right. A planet at full Devastation won't produce much of anything. But if you own it, you feed it.
