I love the random events in the campaign. I am assuming that the random event conclusions are also random, in other words, one choice does not always lead to the same result. Otherwise, that would become repetitive, everyone would always choose the "best answer." I can't see HBS implementing the same results to the questions, right? Another game with random events I love is Battle Brothers. Their random event system allows for different results for options chosen. I hope HBS has also chosen this path.

@HBS_InspectorHound and Raymond (whose HBS name here I don't recall, alas!) are responsible for a huge chunk of those, along with @HBS_Kiva for, y'know, kinda speccing the whole thing out. They ARE random in many cases, but some will only pop if you have specific tags on your company or mechwarrior, and if there's a tag-gated option (E.G. Behemoth: Criminal) the result is NEVER random, and is always 100% guaranteed to produce a given result. To use the Triple F burger example, having hydroponics installed in the Argo always gives a good result, but just handing the meat to Yang? Sometimes ya win, sometimes ya lose.

That makes sense, as long as the same answer to a situation(in most cases) can result in various results I'll be happy. I love everything I have seen on the streams so far. I am so looking forward to this game. It is the game of my dreams, turn based battletech is back! Waiting since Crescent Hawks. haha. Yes, I'm old.

Great to hear about the variable resolution to Random Events. It'll keep replays fresh and ease the way for me to watch ALL the Pre-Release Streams I can manage and STILL not know what to expect when presented with the same Events. WIN/WIN!

Which is understandable. Yes you will learn what choices will give the best results but if you keep seeing the event of the banks trying to scam you, of course you want the best results every time. Having it give you a random results regardless of what you choose sort of defeats the purpose. You might as well not even give the choice of selecting an option then.

I think the event system is one of the most interesting systems in the game from what I have seen and read about it.

Not quite true. Yes, options that are Unlocked by a particular Tag (like a MW tag or an Argo tag) often lead to a ‘better’ result than the other options, but they aren’t always a 100% result.
For some events, it’s about >skewing the odds< in your favor. For example...
A) is often the ‘safe’ option with lower risk but lower reward
B) is often the ‘risky’ option, with higher upside and even worse downside
C) (with a tag unlock) is often the ‘clever’ option, which might remove the worst result from the mix, but keeps the middling reward and the higher reward — but still has a dice roll

That’s just one example though.

AND: not all Unlocks are guaranteed ‘safe’. You should read the setup and the options, and consider what might happen to your MechWarrior if you put him or her in a dangerous situation. ‘Brave’ often goes along with danger, and screwing over criminals... they don’t like that.

There was an event that lets you send a mechwarrior on a space walk to fix something on the Argo. Can he die out there? That would definitely be an ARRRRRRGo moment.

Hmmm, I'm gonna experiment with this spoiler box thing... *whirring sounds of power tools*

That particular event does not have a risk of MechWarrior death. It does have a risk of MechWarrior INJURY. Chances of Injury are fairly common in events. Almost always just 1 Injury (not like they're getting shot by autocannons after all)/ Very, very few events can result in losing a MechWarrior, and we try to signal that fairly heavily to the player ahead of time.

Are all events a "one time only" thing? As in we'll only see the Triple F-burgers event or spacewalk event pop up once in a campaign?
We use a "discard pile" system that will set aside an event that has occurred. The discard pile won't be shuffled back into the deck until the stack of unseen events gets too small.

Some very few events are one-time only, just cause of the fictional nature of that particular event and its storytelling purpose.

If you keep playing after the story campaign is done, eventually you'll see the same event come around again. Eventually.
