First off, lemme just say I have played the crap out of these games. 251 hours in CK2 and 40 hours of EU4 and these numbers will probably increase. I recently completed a near 1000 year campaign (using the converter) as Taurica and it was awesome. However, during the campaigns in both games I was a frequent victim of Crash to Desktops. These crashes seemed to be random, and upon reloading my saves I would sometimes be able to go through a year and make a new save, only for the game to crash at a later time. Sometimes I'd play for only 15 minutes till I got crashed, and other times it would crash after 2 hours. In my 251 hours of CK2 there would only be a few times where I actually turn the game off myself, because I was sure the game was just gonna crash on its own (which it often did).
If the game kept crashing at the same date, it would be understandable. However, the crash dates varied. I would always be able to go a full year after a crash and this allowed me to complete said campaign. Needless to say, this became very annoying. The only pattern that I did see, was that the crashing become more and more frequent as time progressed (maybe its a hardware problem). This means the last 30-40 years was an absolute nightmare (for both CK and EU).I thought maybe the DLCs were causing problems, but it was not the case. Even without DLCs I would still CTD, though it seemed to be a little less often. Thankfully, EU4 did not crash as often as CK2, but the crashes were still common.
So now present day, I begin a new campaign in CK2. I go about 30 years without a problem, then BOOM. Crash to desktop. I want to be able to start a new 1000 year campaign but if I have to deal with the crashes again I don't think I have the patience for it. Please help : (
Some info bout my game/system:
Steam version, up-to-date, checksum is MYLP
Gaming rig not new, but its got 16 gigs of ram and a pretty decent CPU and a Radeon 5700HD graphics card
Windows 7, 64 bit
I've got most DLCs, except the Mayan once and the Republican trading one
All my DLCs are activated when I launch game
If this is not a common occurrence, I can post more info about the crash and other things if needed
