DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then post the first part of that file (from the top down to include "Sound Devices" only) here.

Please post your Documents/CK2/settings.txt. From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ directory, post system.log . Open setup.log in notepad and search for 'checksum', post that line only here too please.

2.2.1 is now out, so probably worth doing a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "delete local content" in Steam-CK2
- manually delete all files and folders left under Steam/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.

Then edit that settings.txt to say refreshRate=60

That aside I see no real problems in those files. You say the crashes are random; is there nothing linking them? Do they only happen after playing for a while, or on any particular action or event? After such a crash, can you restart the game immediately OK? Or do you need to reboot, or to wait a while?

Do they happen in a newly started game under 2.2.1, or only in games started under older patches?
