There is a mechanism to add more courtiers if you have run out but unfortunately a minor bug prevents this from happening. This has been fixed and will be in the first patch. There will also be a new solution for when one of your advisers die. In the mean time you can give up to five kokujin titles to a vassal, and granting him a daimyo title means that he himself can have vassals, which means that you can give him additional provinces that he in turn will hand out to people in his court.

Minor huh? Seems a pretty major one to me honestly, lol.. Since your game basically comes to a full blown stop without more couriters. (something I'm experiencing now, so I can't give out more Titles for the new lands I just conquered)

Well does seem the patch is fixing a lot of stuff which is awesome, but at the same time doesn't seem this patch is anywhere near release which is a shame.. Guess I'll go back to CK till the patch is out, so looking forward to when that is! :)

Well if it was major it would make the game unplayable which it isn't. Courtiers is supposed to be a resource that you need to use strategically, so you really have to think twice on how and to whom you hand out titles. I'm not saying that you have done this, but there are obviously players who hand out one title per vassal, and then you are supposed to run out of courtiers. If you use some of the advice above plus recruiting ronins - which can be given land as well, so that is another source of potential vassals - you should be able to play until the patch comes out.

I don't quite understand what you mean by that.. How would a Vassal's court solve the Courtier problem for your own Court?

Edit: Wait a minute, now I get it.. You're out of courtiers to be able to give land to, but you can still give the title to a couriter of another vassal's court, and in turn they will become a count.. (So in other words, it doesn't come from your pool of courtiers, but your vassals!)

Haha.. kk, interesting thanks, granted it won't solve the problem if you need people for your own Court for like Masters of Guard, etc.. But still good to know though.

Giving land to your vassal's vassal is a bug though and will be gone with the patch. But the patch will also solve a numnber of issues with getting new courtiers & better handling of advisers that die.

I have too seen that...once. Just the once though.

it is a bug, they said you are supposed to get a few new courtiers every now and then, but an unfortunate bug in the code prevents this. It punishes the player badly because you can't improve castles, villages, hire ronin or ninja. Maybe if you could invite unemployed characters to your court or maybe they will patch it and it will work as intended.

Random refugees turning up in your court do sound like a bug. The only refugees that I know are supposed to turn up are vassals of yours that lose their last kori/province. If you grant that character new land he will spawn a new court and his old will stay with you. And once you die you will inherit your fathers court.
