Imo, this would be AMAZING. I'd love to just set some units or navies up and do what I'm doing, then when I come back, my nice new army is all in the same province and ready for use. Same with navies, I'd love to see 30 heavy ships all move to my set designation point instead of manually waiting for every single one to finish and then grouping them all up.

The only issue I could potentially see with this, is that 1 regiment built in South America may decide to head to the rally point in Canada, and likewise with ships.

Thoughts?

Civ has a great system where you can select all to go to a specific point or individually if you want units build in one city going to a particular location. Should be easy to implement.

Normal procedure in games - usually all RTS' have this - is you set the rally point per-creation area. i.e. you'd set a rally point for each province.

That's a little more cumbersome, but avoids the issue you describe, and frankly I think is the only workable solution. Units I create in Calais are very unlikely to being going to the same place as units I create in Madrid.

A simple Rally Point button on each province would suffice, and it's not much work to set the rally point for a number of provinces one after the other, while building stuff.

I personally almost always build my units in a small number of specific provinces, those being the ones I built Army buildings in. I don't spam Army buildings all over, as (so far at least) I don't need the Manpower, I just want the reduced build/maintenance costs. So I upgrade enough provinces in a given strategic area such that I can build maybe 5 or 6 units in parallel.

So it'd be easy enough to set rally points for each of those provinces.

Yeah, that sometimes happens in V2, but it's easy enough to deal with (you just put one rally point in each region where you build troops).

All it has to do is decide which territories to build in based on time to build and arrive to the waypoint. Sounds good.
Maybe a checkbox for building only in the provinces with cheaper costs.

Absolutely a must. Can't count the times I've wished for this.

It would be so much nicer if you could design your armies by troop count and let an algorithm determine a moderately efficient way to join/merge them, rather than counting out +1 +1 +1 units over and over again.

I'd be fine with just the ability to double click an army and select all armies on the screen that are exactly the same. So if I build twenty infantry regiments, I can just double click one of those one-man armies and select them all. It'd make gathering them together so much easier.

Thoughts?

Regional rally points? The game already includes 'regions' of varying size (and overlapping at that). Perhaps such a feature should be anchored regionally? Canadian troops rally in the north, South American units somewhere in Mexico?

Rally points would be wonderful. It would save quite a bit of unnecessary micro management for those that choose to use them.

There are many UI features missing, but I think that a rally system would be impractical. What if you build some units in, say, North America and the rally point is in Argentina? Or if you are building units in Siberia and the rally is at Cape? Extreme examples, I know.

You can use two clicks to:
1) make another rally point in Argentina
2) make another rally point in Siberia

This feature work perfect in Vicky 2, or MotE - even for Russia, Ottoman or another red/green/blue blob.

OH MY GOD THIS!!! +I already suggested (and now I am begging for) reginal function even for hunting rebels. I want my armies to be ready for war, but also want to hunt down rebels. Now I have to decide which of this I sacrifice or have to do it all manually.

Especially for rebels. Each time a goddamn army marches from one side of the globe to the other...
