Overall, cool :D (btw, there weren't ever any Parsi rulers, were there?)

Not sure if they'd be playable but the city of Sanjan in Gujarat and it's immediate surroundings where as I recall ruled by Parsis for most of the period covered by CK2.

Why are people such idiots? First of all, Paradox won't be giving this DLC away for free, so people have the right to complain.
By the same logic, Paradox won't force you to buy it, so you have no right to complain.

And, by my assumptions, over 2/3 of people don't play Muslims because of decadence.
The flaw with assumptions, is that they're based on nothing but assumption.

As explained earlier (haven't you read the posts on earlier pages?), India is likely to be added in the patch accompanying the expansion. This patch is forced to you by Steam even if you don't purchase the expansion. A valid reason to complain, I reckon.

This adds hope that China might make it in a year or two. Maybe the third wave of DLC? Since this is the second?
China would be impossible to represent in CK2's feudal system with any degree of realism, so I hope they stop at India. If any more map expansions are planned, the Sahara had some settlements they could look into.

Some people are just going to complain no matter what. I seriously doubt that the chronic whiners have any impact whatsoever on CK2 development decisions. As for the rest of us (no doubt the vast majority), we're going to pre-order this and have a blast playing it! Can't wait!! Alexander the Great will rise again!!! :p

You don't need Steam to launch the game, so just back it up separately and you'll never have to patch. Wanting the other features/fixes of the patch, however, is a different story.

Not being a chronic whiner, but this was not what I was hoping for. I'll PROBABLY wind up buying it, probably even pre-ordering it, because my love for Paradox knows no bounds, but I was really hoping or some fleshing out of the map we CURRENTLY have. That's just me.

Plus, how are boats going to get from (say) North Africa to India without expanding south through all of Africa?

My guess? You have to walk to India. Shipbuilding tech during the CK2 period doesn't really support sea voyages to India.

The simplist method would indicate that they don't. Circumnavigation of Africa did not happen during this time period, the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean were effectively independent.

China would be impossible to represent in CK2's feudal system with any degree of realism, so I hope they stop at India. If any more map expansions are planned, the Sahara had some settlements they could look into.

No, it actually wouldn't. A bit of The Republic. A bit of the Byzantium. A touch of Islamic systems. A touch of the Papal Politics system. And combined you could do it very well.

It would need to focus on currying favor in court for Governorships. But no, it could be done quite easily.

Seriously, people focus so much on the 'exotic' of China and forget it wasn't that different. I've been studying it for over a decade in Uni and Grad School. And I've been playing CKII since it came out. And really, it would not be hard to do justice to. Certainly it could be done better than the current way Byzantium is.

Basically, the Republic Stuff is the "Family Matters" side. You have your family base of power. Then you lobby the court to get Governorships for your dynastic head. Multiple wives would be allowed.

And once you have your Governorship or get named a provincial inspector, it's no different than being a Count (Inspector) or Duke (Governor), Even King if you get the 'right' titles. Heck, with enough family members in position, allies, and a solid enough base you could revolt and found your own Dynasty or overtake the current one.

Now, I'm not saying it can be done -now-. But it's not much of a stretch. The Imperial title is probably the one to need the most work, and the behind the scenes elements of it. Though honestly, that holds true for Imperial Titles in general in the game.

Actually, the hardest part is probably the cleave and coalesce element. The Imperial side works great once an Empire is founded. But how does it work until that point? Because there are some pretty crazy periods of disunity in this timeframe.

But that's exactly why it wouldn't make for a good thing to add alongside India. Better to leave it for the third phase of expansion so other stuff can be worked on, and ideas polished for this.

And I close with this statement too.

Remember, the Devs said that they are awestruck by the success of CKII - and that success is making things possible they never expected.

Plus, how are boats going to get from (say) North Africa to India without expanding south through all of Africa?

Voicing this makes you a chronic whiner.

BE AFRAID! BE VERY AFRAID!

Maybe you should take up that issue with Steam and its seemingly endless legions of fans.

That's... not really Steam's issue. Paradox decided they like this model of DLC with free patches, not Steam.

Like others have said, if you wanted to, you could just move the folder around, delete it on Steam, and play it offline. Which, of course, also means you'd be exempt from any future patches/DLC, until you decide to go back to Steam.

So, no, you really can't.

The simplist method would indicate that they don't. Circumnavigation of Africa did not happen during this time period, the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean were effectively independent.

Fair enough. For some reason I had a view in my mind that there WAS circumnavigation in the 13th century. HOWEVER, having done a little more research (I don't know much about this period of history) I find that there wasn't. So yeah. Thanks for the answer.
