How about right clicking on a holding - maybe that's what they meant by province view.

all of the raise levies buttons when you right click are greyed out. Doesn't matter what the holding is (city, bishopric and barony) you cannot raise levies by holding anymore. I still thought with the new patch you could raise levies at the province level but i guess not.

I think this means that if you raise your vassal levies from the province view (his province). It will raise them all in that particular province, rather than raising them in his capital. Could be useful if he spans a series of islands or is spread overseas. Haven't had time to check it though.

It looks like levies can be raised in any of the vassals provinces but the strange thing is you cannot raise levies at the holding level at all now. The option is still there but every single button is greyed out. Why remove it? and when you do raise your vassal's level the little green/red bar indicating how many levies are there doesn't change. Isn't that suppose to reflect the available levies left that can be raised by the vassal?

Holdings levying was removed in 1.07 as was the green bar - levies come out of thin air (the same men raised in armies also man the garrison except for demesnes). I don't like the new army anywhere rule - the game is becoming more and more simpler. I appreciate all the bug fixes but the design of the game is going backwards.

That's very unfortunate. Maybe if there was a mod that had the traditional way of raising levies that would be great. I just don't see the point of having all the visual buttons and levy bars if they serve no purpose except to remind the player how great this game used to be before it got bogged down with all the DLC patches.

The new system's not terrible, unfortunately no generals for them still. It needs vassal levies raised by you to come with either that vassal or his marshal (depending on who has higher score) as their general.

I guess they forgot to take them out. I find the new system much less on micromanagement.

The original system was elegant. You raised a levy from a holding it turned into an army. You disbanded it and they went back to defending the holding. this was one of selling points of the game for me - when I said wow I really like this game! I do agree that the micromanagement of levying many small armies from across the map was a bit too much and I liked the 1.07 change where they all appeared in the capital. Sure there were cases where this was a problem but the new system really dumbs it all down far too much for me. Now you get insta-army anywhere within the Kingdom's borders - and they still haven't addressed the levies being in two places at the same time (except for demesne holdings). In the past you would not raise a levy if you wanted it to defend. Now, there's never a reason not to raise so there's less decision making - the game is simpler. I'd rather go back to the 1.06 method than what they have in place now. Have kind of lost interest in the game - going to fire up something else this weekend.

If anything there is even more micromanaging. Whenever I am defending against a massive faction war in my empire I have to handpick each and every general leading my armies. For one or two armies it's no big deal but when you have to do this for dozens of armies it's just ridiculous. I've been slowly losing interest in this game which is unfortunate since it truly was an amazing game when I first experienced it. It's sad when you see such beautiful masterpiece become ruined. By the way I'm still curious about what all the greyed out levy buttons are for on the holding screen and what the green/red bars actually represent so maybe someone can enlighten me.

Also, couldn't you see your opponents remaining unraised levies so you could at least anticipate when their reinforcements would be ready? What ever happened to that? If your going to show the levies at least make it meaningful like it used to be or just remove it period.

What is still very stupid is if you have king vassals and only want some of his levies. I decided to split the levies of the king vassal and disbanded the rest. With the small army I tried to make my claim in one county. But the army I have raised was not strong enough. So wanted to re-raise the rest of the levies to support the first army. But the button is greyed out. It is not possible to raise levies until you have disbanded all levies of the vassal first. Is this a bug ?
