I have put together a group of badasses, we have the firepower, why do I have to wait for some body to hire me to hit one of those factions that already hate me? why can I pull my own version of "McCarron's long march" ?

one could pay some c-bills to "information brokers" (may or may not be affiliated with pirates) that could reveal the most suitable worlds to attack, with their information not being 100% accurate 100% of the time.

Raids could go like this:

the objective is to get one's hand on rare weapons and equipment, rare mech parts, maybe even lost tech.

time sensitive

they can only happens in relevant worlds, like those with factories or research centers, or worlds that are bound to have a military stockpile.

Raid Idea A:

the objective is not to defeat all opfor, the opposition actually gets gradually worst the more one progresses, either that or artillery starts to happen..

the main idea is to escort your own transports through different locations in the map, each better defended than the one before, but offering better rewards. your lance's job would be of course to make sure these transports make it in one piece through each location, until you decide it's getting too hot to continue.

number of locations the transport stop at can vary from 3-5 locations.

by deciding it is time to end the raid, one would be prompted to reach the nearby evac zone (several located strategically), along with the loot loaded transport of course.

by investing c-bills one could increase the number of transport, better vehicles , with better armor and weapons.

one doesnt get to move the transports, so they run quite similar to escort missions already in the game.

Raid idea B:

the other idea that occurs to me , but I find it less interesting, is to simply enable a feature that allows the player to launch missions independently, the capture base kind of missions would be most appropriate , with the difference being that the rewards is in the form of rare equipment and weapons and mech parts, even lost tech (no c-bill)

Things to consider:

Since these raids would be acquired through negotiation with information brokers, it means they would end up being more expensive to run, and the return of that investment is not guaranteed.

they hurt your reputation with the faction you attack greatly.

how much loot one can get it is still limited to roughly the same amount one get from regular contracts.

the reasons I decided to come up with something like this is that I feel BT need more variety of missions, even if it is with small tweaks here and there. this is a humble brainstorming though, pretty sure plenty of folks out there can come up with better stuff.

Oddly, my Flashpoint "The Raid" was inspired by a discord user posting " Why can't I just take the black market goods by force?"

If we ever get a expanded "Piracy" track, a procgen high level raid string of missions against a faction could replace story based FP for the pirates faction.
