Every (or almost every) division had an artillery regiment in WW2. In all previous HoIs it was abstracted. Artillery brigade (visible as separate entity) symbolises strenghtened artillery for given division. We won't be seeing it in every combat unit that had an artillery regiment. That is the case with recon companies and such too.

Maciek

Exactly correct, I'm sure. Out of a division of about 10,000 soliders there will of course be small radio or signals groups which are too tiny to be mentioned in this game but present, historically.

true, i forgot about the abstracted, inherent components in the HoI2, since you can now design your divs. I figured it didn't actually NEED abstraction anymore

If we were to model each individual soldier and equipment there will be abstraction, any other model requires some abstraction. We chose the combat brigade, which includes some divisional assets as our level.

Right right, makes sense :) I think I kinda knew that the divisional assets were there, I just seemed to have a lapse in memory :p

Thanks for clarifying! :D

My observations:

- the interface is the best I've seen yet from Paradox. Very clean, good looking and the colors are very eye friendly and fitting

- very good looking counters! I thought the alpha ones were pretty ugly so I am glad about those nice shiny metal ones :)

- the unit stats have now visible decimals- very cool thing

- the weight stat use will be interesting too

I was wondering about the weight stat when I saw this screenshot. My first thought was "Awesome so this determines if a heavy unit will crush a bridge" but then I realized that was probably not right. Has there been any word on what it is used for? My second thought was that it had to do with how many units you could have on a transport so if the ship can carry 100 you can have five 20 bridages, but if your division weighs more, say 120 it cannot be tranported.

So... does this mean that researching for example better artillery will improve the stats of almost every brigade (apart from the support brigades)?

In one of the earlier screenshots of the naval construction screen you can see that a transport division can transport "40". The numbers don't mean much at this stage, but 40 is a good approximation if one brigade weighs '10' :)

Since the ship-screenie in a previous DD included a weight capacity in the fleet screen, my guess is it is used with transportation. :)

Light Tank Gun 1918? I know that it's a machinegun and not a full blown gun, but the MG13 certainly isn't one from the First World War

This is just splitting hairs...just because brigades are made up of different equipment doesn't mean the model years are going to vary for every country. Obviously the screenshot lacks flavor names, as mentioned above.

On the unit icon in this AWESOME screenshot, there is "0-2" -- what does that stand for?

From Twitter: "The art team are now working on the implementation of the real counters instead of the current placeholders."

So I wouldn't read too much into whatever info appears on the current counters.

As in soft/hard?
And is it relative to other units at that same date/year (so the average unit at any given time is 5/5, and if you don't upgrade it drops), or relative to the whole time-frame (like a super unit from 1947 will always be 9/9)?

Wouldn't it be more useful, if the counters showed the units strength and organisation instead? Or both :p
