This is a little depreciative to all of us, and that it subscribes to the general stereotype of "us" (I had to explain to my girlfriend once that the Mana Bar is a normal bar in the entertainment district, and not a basement full of pale-faced shut-ins, and that gaming has become so mainstream, anyone can do it) but does anyone wonder how they can have a normal adult life whilst being obsessed with micro-management colonial-era geo-political simulators, let alone Paradox (may they be forever awesome and historically accurate) games?

Furthermore, does anyone explain their current game to friends or family, ranting about the situation going on, how much I hate Spain, or why when I hear the word "Comet" a red mist appears, only to be looked at with an empty stare?
One time I went up to my room mate, put a beret on his head, and proclaimed, "You are my new political advisor! now tell me, which should I colonise, Africa or America?!"

Castille had, at this point, less than half her original territory. And half of that was landlocked by a very aggressive Granada. I could declare war against Castille and win without trying. They also happened to be one of the only two member states of the Catholic faith.

Besides all of that, I don't usually see the AI utilize their protector of the faith war calls very frequently, so even if Castille was enormous I wouldn't have thought twice about declaring war.

to be fair to the AI, usually they offer 29 ducats, slightly more than what you'd be able to demand yourself.

I've seen similarly incomprehensible peace deals in the past. During one war with Austria, they were actually offering me one of their provinces, which I had no interest in, but when I was the one trying to make demands from them, Austria wouldn't even give me a single ducat, despite a war score above 20% and no significant Austrian forces in the field.

This is perfectly normal for an AI with armies significant enough left over. Prior to destroying the Austrian armies, they are willing to lose the war but they are not willing to lose it on your terms. If you eradicate their armies, then they are likely to accept your offers.
