im currently spending more money on healthcare (deathcare) than almost anything else combined

please help! :( usually when this happens all my demand falls too, im mostly unable to continue growing in any real way because of this

You probably zoned all (or most) of that at the same time? Then a large percentage of population will die at the same time as well. Randomly keep destroying some buildings, and let them rebuild, while time progresses, to spread it out more.

This has happen to me trice in my city and I have already accepted the fact that these are almost all zone at the same time. So now I just ignore them. It is just part and parcel of life of a cims and my services can get to them quickly.

Are you currently emptying your cemeteries all at the same time? This happened in my first city. The hearsts were all busy moving people from the cemeteries to the creamatoriums, and ignored all the new deaths. Traffic could also be the problem, but you would also notice other problems if traffic were the cause. When I empty cemeteries, I always build extra cemeteries now and no longer get the death wave.

I had this mass death issue too. It was from raising my taxes. The whole city had abandoned everything, then slowly moved back in. Then all of a sudden my pop all started dying at once. Then again a few years later. I then started bulldozing some of the complainers little bit here and there and now they are on a normal cycle.

It took quite some time to settle down though, but in the beginning I was losing almost half my population every time it happened.

Epic layout, might have some connection problems though!

As for deaths in the game, so long as there isn't a 'reason' like bad water, just plop an extra one or two crems in to make sure they can be carted off and all will even out in time.

i have the same problem too!

capacity of cementeries and crematoriums are very good, only locally traffic issues. butte the decease will come (and go a little bit later).

Maybe its better to generate some kind of a random age for the CIMs? so +/- 3 years or whatever?

Check ure healthcare tab, if ishow bad health then its cause of other city issue, good healthcare shud be above 80%++ before spending to much on buildings it might be as easy as pollution, and trafikk. If this is not the case then try the advise of destroying little by little.

I was originally going to make a terrain map using that idea, but I didn't have the ambition. It worked, heh.

its funny, ive never had issues with mass death or even sickness. ive usually only had up to like 5 people even using the hospitals at a time. and in a city of 50k+ thats nothing. If RL cities had such little sickness the massive hospitals would only need to be a small building.

While I am sure almost all of us would like EA to take a shot right in the kisser, it's not going to happen and Sim City is going nowhere. This game lacks disasters for now (possibly a future DLC) and only has two density levels based on what I read in the FAQ. It looks like a lot of fun and I am delighted to see it sold over 500,000 copies. But the death knell for Sim City has not been rung yet.

From Wikipedia (I am sure some of you have better places to get statistics for copies sold):

"SimCity sold over 1.1 million copies in its first two weeks, 54 percent of those sales were of the download version of the game. As of July 2013 the game has sold over two million copies"

I don't think you understood the idea of what I was going for. It was meant as a joke, and nothing more. I put almost 400 hours into SimCity 2013, which most people have bashed into the ground and still enjoy it now and then. I hope that SimCity does live on, and I'm sure EA will ensure it does, even if it is to the series detriment. That's my concern mainly, because their arrogance in how they handled and still are handling the game (or not which is more accurate) sent a lot of people packing and it will take an effort of epic proportions to ever see those sales numbers again for the series.

I have had this problem, too, and have had to fill my cities with crematoria. The problem would appear to be caused in part by inefficient hearse pathfinding, but also by insufficient variability in longevity and also insufficient variability of the age of the denizens when they move in from the outside world.

Dont worry about it, this guy has absolutely NO sense of humor and loves sticking up for Simcity like a good little EA fanboy. I've been in another thread where he was justifying EAs decision to cripple Simcity with the small map sizes.

For what its worth, I hope the Simcity brand is not dead and would welcome a 'Simcity6' sometime in the future. The core game was great and it looked fantastic (well, mainly looked great because it didn't have to generate much because of size but still.....). Healthy competition is good in any industry and with the dire reviews Cities XXL recently got, CS is in danger of becoming a monopoly.

The launch was horrible. The "free game" they offered was nothing I had any interest in so that served no value to me. I would love for Maxis to break away from the EA chains, but I doubt that happens anytime soon.

I have thrown far more zingers at EA than CO. In fact, I have thrown none at CO other than the idea that their DLC will be overpriced. However, that's an industry standard and every company has overpriced DLC so it's not like they alone are at fault. I did NOT justify Sim City's map decision. I said from a business stand point why they did it. Just like people on the Football Manager forums explained to me why it was necessary for SI to release Football Manager Annually rather than biennially. It's also how those on the EUIV boards justified Paradox releasing Art of War for 40% of the cost of the base game. They said "from a company's stand point, it makes sense." Fair enough.
