Dude and yours isn´t opinion too? Get off the high horse. What is good or bad in game is Always subjective, if what matters is only what The TRUE human being that is you says, then why bother discussing stuff in a public forum? Do you honeslty think some people didn´t hate HOI 3?
I didn`t hate HOI3(after bug fixes), so obviously there are some people who didn`t.
I`m perfectly fine with people not liking HOI3. I`m not fine with this people trying to appear as if they are the only ones here.
And HOI 3 isn´t easy to mod the map for average user, go troll elsewhere. Do you see any major mod with a third or half of provinces? Ever wondered why?
Because people didn`t want that?
There were great map mods, and there were even community created tools for it. The absence of smaller province mod just shows lack of demand for it. HPP for one had a decent map mod, and then people that created it, did help in community map project.

The opinion that "everyone" hated the HOI3 number of provinces is plain wrong, and easy to prove otherwise.
Civilian cars are all 4 wheel, again, go troll elsewhere. If yours isn´t by all means show me a picture.
Trucks and buses are not civilian cars?

I played hoi1 extensively and I respectfully disagree. Hoi1 was similar to hoi2 in terms of combat (other than move is attack, of course), and also had a lot lower number of provinces. There was no oob (which is not necessarily a good thing), so you didn't have to spend an hour (2 if you're SOV) at the beginning of each game grinding oob structures into something decent, and had to pick leaders for each division (which is horrible, terrible game design). It had more detailed techs (good), for which you spent ic (very bad).

I agree that tactics should be a part of the game, but you shouldn't be spending 90%+ of your time making decisions that aren't meaningful strategically and is micro for micro's sake.

Devs designed hoi3 thinking that ai can more or less take over for the player for more tedious parts of the micro, which the ai actually couldn't handle. Also, there weren't any tools that allowed the player to design/plan the skeleton of the oob, and let ai fill in the blanks. So you had to slave away hours into making the oob and maintaining it, which is less fun than getting a filling

Again, hoi is a grand strategy game. This includes planning your warmachine, techs, diplomacy, AND tactics

In HOI 1 one had to upgrade each division individualy to get it to a new Tech Level - which caused me more micromanagement than the OOB in HOI3. Yes one had to set it up at the begining of the game but going forward I had no problems.

I agree that HOI is a Grand Stratgy Game, and have never thought otherwise.
Maybe I am in the minority here, but my main focus of playing HOI has been and will be Land warfare. What brought me to the HOI series was that in my opinion it has the best balance of Warfare, Politcs, economics, and research of any game in the genre. But if I look back at my games, be it in HOI1, 2, or 3, the thing I always spent the most time on is fighting WW2 - which is why I am so interested in how PDS are going to implement this part of the game.

That's actually interesting. For me, battle of the atlantic and air warfare is just as important as the land battles. I intentionally leave UK be so that I'll have to defend my shores and industrial heartland of germany vs the RAF and the US.

And I actually enjoyed the compartmented research hoi1 had, but thats probably just me :p

I dont see why you think that having those options makes the game unplayable as some seem to suggest. If you dont like that, just manage your units manually like in Hoi3.Its an option, you can let the AI take control or do it yourself. No need to act like its the end of the world, having more options is always better.
That ways casual guys can have a little fun with the game and then if you like to micromanage the units like me you can just not use the front system and thats it.More options is always better.
Why do you make up excuses? It's not an option, it's not more options - it's literally the only thing there is. You cannot do it like we did in HoI3 because they HoI3 system is GONE.

EDIT: whoops, page 7, didn't realize the thread was that long.

He took it back down, apparently because he misunderstood and thought he was allowed to upload it this early when he really wasn't.

Yes but what's so bad about his experience?

I have read all the posts thoroughly, and as far as I can see, he wanted to put arrows on the front of his Reliant Robin, but only at the front (get it? - front), but because the Robin doesn't like corners, some people on here figured that he was telling us that his arrows had become pointless, and in fact the way to steer the Robin was to simply lean into the door at speed. This appears to some people to be taking away from the real experience of turning corners with a steering wheel.
I think that was right...hic...

Negatives:
-Combat system. Seriously, I don't see myself having any fun with it. Take 20 divisions, drag them into "GREAT ARMY OF DEATH", assign one general and boom, you're done. Poland conquered. Poland was never hard to conquer but it was kind of a practice run for Germany. Now it feels like each campaign apart from Barbarossa will take 3 seconds of arrow drawing and then unpausing the game. This is an enormous disappointment. It's like they made an excellent game but then looked at the main bit and just said "let's make it automated and like EU4". I thought the arrow drawing Blitzkrieg with Rommel in command of 12~ divisions in 1936 (...) would be gone but it looks like it's just a tiny bit improved. This probably means I wont pre-order or buy the game until it's at least 50% off. Only Kaiserreich coming out would probably make me buy it earlier than that.

Sure, HOI3 had a complex system, but the most annoying thing about it were the supply ranges and HQ's. What was wrong with Darkest Hours combat system? Why did you have to go full baby-mode with it?

This is my only serious concern for the game. The operational level was my favourite part of HoI3. If that's being simplified half way out of the game, I'll be disappointed.

This is my only serious concern for the game. The operational level was my favourite part of HoI3. If that's being simplified half way out of the game, I'll be disappointed.

If the Ai is terrible, then yes, all we'll have to do is draw arrows to win. Or you could micro manage to win easily as well, the only hard part being the callus you form on your mouse hand from all the clicking. If the AI is good, then the operational part will be challenging, with or without arrows or great death armies. If we draw arrows and the AI reacts, and attacks and defends in an intelligent manner, then we'll have to redraw those arrows won't we?

I really don't think the Arrows will necessarily limit operational level combat. I think the AI will be the far more impactful element to operational level challenge. The arrows/Bp system, I hope, will just make the operational level less clicky, and more simple to manage...

I totally agree, Quill was off base on a couple items. Podcat cleared it up pretty well I though. What did others think?

The stream went down for me during a very important part where Podcat was going to explain how to change/add arrows tot he original plan. I'll have to wait till they put it up and scroll to the parts where I lost connection.
