Where do mod files and folders go? On the wiki it has 'C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\mod' but all I have in there is a list of ugc video files all numbered, non of which have any content (eg, ugc_682165224.mod). Also the wiki points to '/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/workshop/content/281990)' but there is no 'Workshop' folder. Soooo......?

The .mod file is under Documents, but the actual changed files are under steam/steamapps/workshop/content.

Anyone know what's up with this?:
7x150vb.jpg

All the ships have models but when i choose to make my own species the generic ship isn't the 'mammalian' one like in vanilla. I think I know what file effects this but it doesn't have anything about the generic ship in it. This is only a graphical issue because once I select a ship it's fine and never has any effect in game.

Any ideas?

So I am just wanting to do some species/empire modding and I was wondering if there is a way to make a pre-scripted species. I want to make it so that any empire that i make that is in pre-scripted empires have the same species as one another. I get that you can just make a duplicate clone species but i want to make it so there is only 1 actual species with one set homeworld and all the other empires are using that species. Similar to how robots would work but i want to know if its possible to do it for organics and also make it multi empire. a situation that would use this is for multiple human empires but all being true humans from the planet earth.

I believe both of the human preset empires (UNE and COM) both count as the same species. Though I haven't tested it, I assume the same is true of custom empires. You just have to make sure the traits, adjectives, etc are the same.

EDIT: This appears to no longer be the case, they're counted as separate species after all. I will experiment some more and get back to you.

How can I edit texture files with photoshop?

I downloaded the NVIDIA plugin which allows me to open .dds files with photoshop. Namely I want to edit an ethics button.
The problem I have is, that my files doesn't keep the transparency in the corners, so the icon is always shown with a white square background.

How can I get rid of that?

@BerthNerd
For .dds files you need to ignore transparency as you know it in photoshop. Switch from the layer tab to the channel tab. Whatever is highlighted on the "alpha" layer is what will be shown in game, the rest will just be transparent.

I have many questions but to start with:

How do I add empires into a Static Map?

How do I have these empire have multiple planets colonized at start?

I'm more or less looking to create a scenario that basically is mid-game at start.

@Mitchz95
I believe this is set up in the system initalizers. Have a poke around but basically whatever is set to random will use a random generated name. I hope this isn't too vague and is helpful.

Okay, thanks for the answer. However I can't save my icon file as the "Image width and height must be multiples of four...

There is no way around this, you have to change the picture size to a multiple of 4. Get out a calculator and see what you have to shave off.

Hello there, i've been adding new army types and i was wondering if anyone has figured out a way to create additional army icons. At the moment i've used the not ideal solution of moving around the rebel/rebel slaves to the garrison/slaves icons so i could have a new icon. But that only gave me one extra icon and i'd really like more without having duplicates.

Is there anyway to convert a country ruler into another leader type? Say on election loss in an oligarchy, would it not make sense for a general or a scientist to return to his duties?
