A quick question about your plans on how to incorporate the changes due in the upcoming patch/DLC. Specifically:

Are you planning to go along with the addition of coalitions (read: "AE") in the game? For me this is a total gamekiller, and also the reason I completely abandoned EU4. I'm not a WC-player, but I hate being forced to play in a certain (ahistorical) way because developers wish to stop some perceived "abuses" of certain players. Anyway, that's not the place for this debate. I will not accept AE rearing its ugly head in a medieval game, so I am planning to disable patch updates from now on. Sadly this means I won't be able to follow future updates of this excellent mod...

...that is unless you guys intend/are able to modify (preferably eliminate) the ahistorical nature of AE/badboy as it is apparently intended. I love how the mod currently stands with the current evolution of the game and would be happy playing it like it is. But being a greedy boy :) I keep hoping that you will be able/intend to limit this (IMO) disastrous design decision on the part of the developer.

We have no magic crystal ball, therefore we do not know the extent of the modability on it and can't make any real comments until we do. Vagueries are about the extent of info we can give and I've already posted that before as you seemingly have already seen (I think)

Sadly PDS has been extremely opaque about it in that matter, which for me and memory with previous patches worries me immensely as that is generally not a good sign in terms of pro-modability. But again, that is purely assumptions based on thin air. We shall see next week.

EDIT: Btw; I agree with you. The good parts of this upcoming patch/DLC are being swallowed up by the overwhelmingly bad parts of it for me. Such things as forced CTA on alliances, making WS from battles count for "far less", infamy a la EU4, shattered retreats. It's like they decided to make this game in EU lite, but with the worst aspecs of EU.

I could pick apart each point individually, but as you said this isn't the time/place for it.

As a cathar how do I create the Cathar pope? I just dont understand exactly how the holy site title mechnic works.

You need to be an independent king or emperor, have the Perfecti trait, have 1000 Piety, and have one holy site in your realm.

Hey all quick question. In the vanilla CK2, there is the impregnate console command which does what it says on the tin but it does not specify the gender of the child. Does CK2+ have a console command to guarantee a male child? Thanks

Gender of the child is not determined until birth engine wise.

High CA says "vassals can no longer fight eachother"

But, they do... they keep pushing claims on one another. does this apply to de jure realm only?

Yup. Been a complaint in vanilla CK2 since launch IIRC. Also pretty sure hardcoded.

yeah, i keep forgeting about such details.

i guess CB condition can be written to prevent that, but it sounds like a huge can of worms.
Maybe they took the time to revise it for the new "Enforce Realm Peace" decision in Conclave... well, probably more likely that they forgot.
But if it has been changed, that would be another reason to buy the new DLC :)

well, it's not broken per se. it's a crown law, meaning voted on by de jure vassals, applies to de jure vassals.
but having that in de facto realm would actually be useful.
as i said, CB can probably be edited to behave like that, but that would probably make it boring if you play as a vassal in such a realm.
claim wars are a big part of gameplay early on, and without that, as a small vasal you'd be forced to marry into land.
or start a faction to reduce CA.

i guess that's why conclave has "Enforce Realm peace" option.

Anointed Patriarch Supreme before the formation of the Holy Roman Empire
Well, this happened in my current game. My father, Emperor of the Byzantine Empire, managed to scrape together the piety needed for the anointment and he did this 50-100 years after the Carolingian Empire fell apart. I didn't really care as I didn't know how this affected the game, but logically, I can't form the Holy Roman Empire after this event has been triggered.
I'm currently playing the Kingdom of Luxembourg and had the aim to create the Holy Roman Empire from a single county and only vassalize people from my own dynasty, additionally playing Enatic-Cognatic just for the heck of it. Also, no heretical blobbing is allowed. This has slowed down the expansion greatly.

Here are my questions
- Is there any way to form the Holy Roman Empire after the schism has been avoided (the intrigue option is no longer available and searching for it reveals that I need "(X) The Holy Roman Empire has been formed with the pope's consent")?
- If the schism is avoided, what triggers Chalcedonian holy wars?
- The German Empire has the requirement "(X) Can not form the Holy Roman Empire", but I'm not able to create the German- or Holy Roman Empire, why?
- Autocephalous Patriarchs; if I'm stuck with Chalcedonian, how do I "create my own" Autocephalous Patriarch?
- Can the schism still happen? For example, say the Adoptionists completely swallow the British Isles and Scandinavia, will there be a schism or will there always be one, and only one, de facto religion within Christianity (excluding the Coptic church)?

Unfortunately, you can't currently form either the HRE or Germany, as the decision to form the HRE does not currently account for the case where the schism has been prevented and the Patriarch Supreme rather than the Pope is the religious head for Western Christians, the HRE cannot be directly formed until it has been formed once using the decision, and the requirements to directly form Germany do not currently account for this particular reason the HRE decision is unavailable. I do not believe this is WAD but I'll confer with the team and will fix whichever of these issues is the intended path alongside the compatch.

In the meantime, the following change to decisions/CK2Plus_specific_realm_decisions.txt should allow you to see the HRE formation decision and then check if you meet the other requirements. (If you are using the Steam Workshop file, you will need to edit the file inside the archive, or unpack the archive and edit the ck2plus.mod file to point to whatever folder you unpack the archive into.)

Around line 777 of this file, there should be a block that looks like this:

rightful_religious_head_scope = {
NOT = { character = ROOT }
OR = {
has_landed_title = k_papal_state
has_landed_title = k_papal_chalcedon
}
}

What you need to do is insert the line "has_landed_title = k_chalcedonian" directly below " has_landed_title = k_papal_chalcedon". The event text for HRE coronations will still refer to the Pope rather than the Patriarch Supreme, I believe, but the decision should otherwise work correctly.

As for your other questions:

-I believe that, to have your own autocephalous patriarch, your primary title needs to be at least kingdom-tier and not already associated with an autocephalous patriarch. In the case of Luxemburg, it already has one and will always be associated with the Patriarch of Rome - I believe this is hardcoded as not changeable in game, but if you form a kingdom that is not already associated with a Pentarchy (the nearest to you will probably be in Scandinavia or Rus - alternatively a titular or custom kingdom night work) and make it your primary title then your associated patriarch MIGHT change.

-The schism being avoided does not change the trigger for Crusades: Jerusalem not being Christian-held after 1090, one of Rome, Toulouse, Paris, Cologne, Constantinople, Ancyra, or both Athens and Corinth not being Christian-held after 850.

-It is not possible for the schism to be "un_prevented", so even if heresy overtakes a united Chalcedonian church there will always be only one main Christian faith.

Thanks for the in depth explanation, Fall of Stars!

However, I think I'll skip the editing and just play the game as it progresses (lazy, immersion and it'll reset after the next patch anyway). I'll just go for the Austrian Empire instead, or something similar. And it makes sense that I can't create it, the Patriarch Supreme isn't in a dire need of two Roman Empires. It would be cool if I could create it if Byzantium falls however. The current game saw the return of the Persian Empire under Mazdaki rulership, a serious threat to the Byzantine Empire!
