This kind of threads is always made, so I might as well start it off.

Stolen from the EU3 thread:
"When answering a question, please quote the question you're answering. If no one seem to be answering your question, maybe no one knows at the moment, be patient.
To check if your question has already been answered, please use the "Search this thread" function to the right."

I'll fire off with my, probably, rather silly question:
The water on the main map is in different colors. Im guessing this has to do with depth. But what color is what depth and so on? It would be rather stupid to try and hide a submarine in very shallow waters...

I believe the darker it is, the shallower it is. The darkest areas seem to be around the shore but don't hold me to that.

Also my question: Is it possible to group two units into a formation after they have been launched or split up a formation into twi separate groups?

The "formation" button lets you split up a group.

Hallo,

at first Thanks, i like the game.Im from Germany and my English is not so well. I have a few questions, the first is about the submarine. If i shoot a Tomahawk all the 10 Tomahawks go away...is that right or is it my fault?? Sometimes the Automatic Modus doesnt work? If a hostile plan came into the range of an amraam my planes doesnt shoot, i do it manually, is that the right way or i must be more patience?? Thanks for the answer and have a nice day.

To get your plane to shoot automatically, set its battle orders to "Fire at cleared targets" instead of the default "Fire in self-defense only."

Yes. Select units, Formation editor (g), specify which, merge to group.

Formation setting is a real pain. Trying to get the central ship to register and set the spacing is really buggy. Had to try it five times before I got it to work the way I wanted it.

Yeah, just right click on the air base you want to set as the aircrafts home base, ie it won't go there straight away, but it will when it has bingo fuel.

If the aircraft are in a group, you currently have to reassign a home base for each individual aircraft, and you can't set a home base to a aircraft when it has bingo fuel (even if the base is actually nearer to it's current home base)

Thanks for the answer, it works but what is with the Tomahawks of the sub...If i shoot a Tomahawk all the 10 Tomahawks go away...is that right or is it my fault?? Thanks for the answer and a nice weekend.
Sorry forgot to answer that. When you attack with missiles it assumes you want to destroy the target, so it calculates the ammo needed to do the job (taking hit% and defense into account). Unless the target is defenseless, you will find that 10 tomahawks, probably more, would be needed.

You can influence the number of missiles used by opening the battle planner and choosing minimal attack. This means it assumes no defense and that all missiles will hit - still, if you attack an airport for example, it will require every missile you have and more.

There is one way to fire just one missile. Choose "bearing only attack" with the tomahawk selected, minimal attack, and right click just beyond the intended target. Of course the missile may decide to go for something else :)

Lighter equals deeper. The other clue is shallow water tends to be near land ;) As for actual depth....I haven't a clue.
