Hi all,
Playing 1st campaign as Germany (Semper Fi). I am in July '40 and got Metz surrounded for over 60 days, I waited about 20 days and for at least 40 days have been battling with them at low supplies but still its draining multiple divisioins and tons of casualties. Dont these guys ever surrender or does the supply last longer in towns (or towns with forts like Metz)?
Now have Paris surrounded, about 5 divs. trapped and they have tons of supplies so no way I should wait here, am getting my engineers ready and am planning on attacking from the one land connected province as the others are all river-crossings. So I plan on using 5 divs from the land province and 1-2 from the others. Any other tips for reducing big cities/forts??

Thanks in advance.

When doing invasions, should you take your HQ's into the foreign land or should you keep the HQ's in your base across the water?

Leave the HQs at home, at least at first. Putting HQs into an invasion fleet will cause the invasion to fail automatically, as HQs are support bdes and cannot fight in combat.

Towns with IC/factories in them (as Metz and Paris do, I believe) will produce supplies for the defenders, though at reduced capability. Best bet is to bomb them (interdiction or ground attack--and if you're into gameyness logistical bombing), and then bypass it. There are plenty enough French VPs that aren't garrisoned that well, and the army will disappear once you win anyways, so really, why bother fighting?

Quick question. In an air combat window I have seen an icon indicating that superior radio technology was giving one side an advantage. What tech do I need to research? I already have radios researched and there are not multiple levels for that tech.

great. do the reserve units also need an area? or do they copy the area from the main wings? how does priority affect this? thanks

I think they will do whatever mission they're "reserved" for without needing to micro it, but I could be wrong.

So there is no VP's or gain in national dissent or morale for destroying or eliminating the stack at Metz?? I am now bombing and now can see that there are 21! divisions in there. Dont think France has that many divisions left in France, am running into Rep. Spanish, Brits, Indian, Canucks and even Greeks in France.

I don't recall if there are any VPs in Metz... but if there are not, simply destroying the stack isn't going to get you any more or less NU loss or surrender progress. Best thing to do is encircle and bypass. Most of the French divisions will go away once you do Vichy, and so there's really no need to waste manpower for no real gain. Even if there are VPs in Metz, you can probably bypass it anyways and grab other less defended ones.

Why is the automotive strategic bonus in Czechoslovakia not in a province that has factories (IC)? Seems odd to me...

What's all the bloody orange color around the east coast of US while playing as US? It's 1942 now and I'm at war with Germany, I only have 1 patrol fleet and that's marked as green on the naval map, but there's orange zones all over the place and I have no idea what they are.

1936 start, GER, Normal, I haven't done anything.
3 Inf division: 6.31 IC, 95 days, 599.45 ICd
1 Art brigade: 2.46 IC, 102 days, 250.92 ICd
3Inf1Art division: 8.31 IC 102 days 850.68 ICd
Thus the ICd cost of the whole division is the same as the value of the sum of its constituent brigades.
However, as the IC cost of the brigades added would be 8.77 instead of 8.34, I must ask: is there a brigade with such low IC costs and loong building time that adding it to a division actually lowers the IC cost of building the division?

I believe that to be related to "The Undeclared War". Before you formally enter the war you can enact decisions in which in those orange areas you can engage German Subs. This is new to FtM

sorry if it's been asked I tried looking. Just got ftM and notice this strategic resources things, understand some of it from reading here but haven't found what each items bonus is, what are they/where can I find it? Plus is there a manual for FtM out yet? I bought it from steam and they don't have one listed
