PAR and RAN units have a transport weight of 5 and Transport planes can carry 15, so 3 PAR/RAN brigades per plane.
but the 1939 transport plane Cargo Hold tech adds 1 transport apability and the 1941 aiborne warfare equiment tech decreases the RAN/PAR brigade transport weight to 4, so with those researched you can drop a 4 brigade PAR/RAN division with a transport weight of 16.

the real benefit of all Ranger unit is it's penetration allowing it to penetreate AC and slightly outdated L-ARM. The terrain bonuses are just bonus.

I see, well I was talking about SP only multi sounds like it might be a nightmare to attempt? But idk maybe it is doable but I bet you won't be on speed 3, 4 or 5 for long.:D

Anyway, I've looked at the files and they are huge. I suppose if opened in "Notepad"? maybe the "find" function could be used?

To your last comment, wouldn't you HAVE to copy the Italy CG files into the German Save for both to be CG setups? If I was not in horrible pain, I would give it a go. Create the Italy CG-Save, copy only the Italy-files to my HD and after Creating the Germany CG Save, put it in 7zip etc. and try to overwrite the Italy-setup from the Italy CG save. But I hurt and I'll leave it be.:) But good luck.

Btw, you game me another idea; What if I created one MP CG for Italy and Germany but played it in single-player? Anyone know if that would work? I guess there is no Hot-Seat mode for this game?

Yeah, I'm going to try with notepad++ (just realized that means that they've incremented notepad... ah the things you learn studying Java) and see if it works. I've got to work out my Italy build (not going for too much optimization, I want to write a relatively realistic AAR off of the results) but I think it should work... I'll post my results.

I think he's referring to the airborne assault function. You have limited control over timing. They won't take off for (IIRC) 24 hours, and can be further delayed by weather. And if they get beat up by enemy interceptors they will withdraw.

I think you'd have to mod the game files themselves to give them that capability; since first operational capability wasn't until the mid-to-late 1960s, it was never seriously considered for the game's scope.

I thought V2 rockets can carry nukes?

i though too since long but it seems not, in fact, i was surpised and dissapointed... (it changes massivly my plan of strat bombing when i will start invasion of Russia, drop nukes with TACTs or STRATs is much more risky coz of russain INTs & MRs, etc)
about what i saw, nuclear mission arent dispo in the list of missions soon as u clic on the targetted province (with rocket squadrons), i suppose its a matter of default datas from TFH (or former versions of HoI3, of course), i only see modding as solution... :(

since first operational capability wasn't until the mid-to-late 1960s, it was never seriously considered for the game's scope.
yeah, i will have to unfortunatly...
but not really agree with the 2nd part of ur comment,
if i remember well, first models of ballistic missiles appeard in USA in 1958 and 1959. (?... i should watch out, in fact...)

if we include some "moving marge" (about own capabilities to go more quickly than reality), we can reasonably count on nuclear missiles around 1955 +/-, even maybe quite less...

of course, u are right, its mainly coz Paradox didnt integrated the cold war warfare context in HoI3 but i disagree with them about that:
uncertain evolutions and possibilities to go very quickly and extend the WW2 context (or simply completly change it without follow history, etc) differently and more longer should give theoric marge/choices to players to integrate cold war concepts with, inside the game, even just for a few part...

earlier cold war is too much directly linked with WW2 and tech/scientific progresses from there to be simply rejected, i think... :(

and, without forget, even if we count starting 60's as reasonable delays to integrate ballistic missiles+nukes in the equation (and as concreet asset with all the conventional other weapons), for real history...
technicaly, war stopped in 1945, developments & scientific/technologic progresses go much much more quickly in contexts of war (hundreds of exemples in history).
so, we could reasonably think the full operationnal use (with effectivness) of ballistic missiles dropping nukes should be used/ended/ready much more earlier than starting 60's if war never stopped after 1945, as we could do inside the game by playing Axis much more efficiantly (etc)
it was more slow during real cold war but its mainly coz investments in military researchs stopped drasticly in end 40's (and restarted when cold war became more harder and concreet after, etc)...

thats the reason i am surprised and quite sad about it, they should added ballistic missiles carrying nukes (even just theoricly with few chances players reach that period of time, as last step of possiblities, of course)... :(

anyway, we must do with...
i hope they will make this, more complete & rich for HoI4,
it gives much more intrest to end-WW2 and much more realism if players dont follow strictly WW2 constraints... but we will see :p :)
(i will search how to do to mod rocket squadrons and make them use nukes now, i will see)

++ ;)

Ugh, the Grammar Prude in me is cowering... but you get a bye because English is your second language!

The first US-designed SRBM (Short Range Ballistic Missile, basically the upgrade to an A4/V2, and nuclear capable) was the PGM-11 "Redstone" missile. Entered into active service in 1952, but was not nuclear-capable until 1957. Most other follow-on missile systems were incapable of launching the heavy nukes that were the standard of the time. So, really, let's be honest and say that regardless of how fast you research this stuff (because it's not like von Braun and his team were only working one day a week or something) that it took them two decades to make a warhead/missile able to match with any degree of certainty.

Good luck

Just to keep you up to date, I decided to instead just modify the original game files in a separate copy of the game because it was too confusing otherwise.

oh jeeeeez  (buddies on forum vexed for nothing again, i suppose...) :(
technicaly, 3rd language, in fact. ;)
and yeah i dont practice enough to be fully obsessed by grammar or vocabular in english or dutch, "soooooo sorry my friend" lol:eek: (but the more important is to be understood in our interconnected world, no ? anyway, thats ok i seen, u have been able to follow, so its cool) :D

about 1958, wrong answer buddy, i didnt searched, i remembered 1958 from a doc about USAF some times ago without search yesterday finaly (one year marge is few things and if i remember well again, they said 1958&1959 there, in the doc, so...? but anyway, i will not watch out seeing the atmosphere of reaction i received back from u, 1957 is also perfect for me and confirm my first answer was right... plus insist also on urs, who wasnt about +mid 60's, if i can trouble u few more again... just kidding here lol) ;) :D

and last, read back my comment, i dont speak about 1944or1945or1946 (2 decades ? from earlier starting researchs in germany-30's about fuseology, u mean then ? not from concreet ww2 context in starting 40's),
me i speaking about end 40's or starting 50's, and about link between nukes and ballistic missiles.
take count of all the process change few things, its progress between starting 40's and mid50's the important matter.
progress if war never ended should been able to move on very more faster, wich is FULLY different ! (and thats the point !)
in context of no-ending WW2 (from 1945 until 1950or1955) and with research in fuseology from, u can be sure things would been ended much more quickly.
and its more coherent and realistic too (to have "an alone fluid & no-ending timescale about research tree" and all intrests from to integrate in the game).
and anyway, ww2 and earlier cold war are deeply linked about advanced techs, its unsain to think to post-ww2 times (even just few years) without be able to integrate cold war warfares in the deal, seems obvious for me...

but, of course, its also directly linked with an other issue from HoI3 (didnt told about it in previous msg, i should maybe):
the default game stop in 1948, and thats an other issue ! ...3 years marge is close of nothing for a world war context and all differences/scenarios u can reach/have within, etc.
(thats why i always integrate modding and end-games in 1956)

and there, seems necessary and fully realistic (about last advanced techs proposed by the game) to play it without stupid constraints only linked with unjustified gameplay limits...
but clear, if u strictly want to end the game in 1948, u dont need to foccus on next warfare context (and evolutions of warfares, there) to have a "completed & realstic game" about a "none-stopping mid20th century history"... of course (etc)

but missing something from that, within, trully... :(o_O

Does anyone know if releasing a puppet from the politics screen gives it a government type loyal to your faction?

Playing USSR, not sure what to do with the German allies. If i war goal puppet them, i think it does nothing to their political faction. If i war goal install communism, i'm pretty sure they remain a free country (i want them in my faction).

So what's the best way to proceed? Is releasing as puppet the same as war goal puppeting?

Does anyone know if releasing a puppet from the politics screen gives it a government type loyal to your faction?

Playing USSR, not sure what to do with the German allies. If i war goal puppet them, i think it does nothing to their political faction. If i war goal install communism, i'm pretty sure they remain a free country (i want them in my faction).

So what's the best way to proceed? Is releasing as puppet the same as war goal puppeting?

I think releasing a puppet you've conquered makes them the government type of your government, but not the party. Although the only country I've tested it with is releasing Austria as the USSR, and I don't think much effort was put into making sure there were plenty of Stalinist Austrian leaders. But it would be consistent with how the game has you puppet countries without putting your party in power.

I think once a country becomes a puppet it becomes "a lock" that they can no longer be a problem. As Italy I took Yugo and Romania (had to) by Conquest and eventually released both as puppets. They fought with the Axis against the SU for 3 years and I seriously doubt anything could have changed. Kinda like, you cannot trade with a UK puppet ever in a game, because it is not independent. So, in that light I would say it would be unable to do a thing government wise either. A puppet government was installed and that's that, so party is moot.

Think i'll just conquer and puppet later then. Also means i don't have to deal with supply issues fighting in puppet countries.

Another question: anybody got any idea what's going on here:

There's no supply convoys that have ever visited that island, but for some reason its supplies are constantly increasing. It's the little island off the coast of Finland. It has more supplies than my stockpile in Moscow, and they're just sitting there...

You can use both war goals i think - Install communism on day 1 of the war, and then puppet after you get the ability to put in more war goals. I'd also put some acquire territory down so that you don't lose the strategic benefit that Danzig provides ;)
