Since Bugreports looks like a ghost town I'll ask here... Last patch TFH Italy/Hard. I had two Mountain Divs get stuck in the middle of upgrading. They were in separate provinces when this happened although it looks like they froze at the same time. They were not the only units opgrading at the time. I can move the units province to province but their upgrades are stuck at 46% and have been for a while. I have sufficient IC into upgrades. I've tried moving them to different provinces in case INFRA or Supply was an issue. I turned off up grades to the units, waited a week and then tried to start again but no luck.

Any ideas?

Have you compared their unit stats to any fully upgraded brigades? It may be that they actually finished but the progress percentage just didn't update.

would it make any difference if I tagged over to Germany and simply keep an eye on their MP, making sure they could keep going by adding some MP when necessary?
Running out of MP is a common issue for Germany AI so yes, it may help. But even with a ton of MP, if they face wall of steel it will be hard :)

There are a couple of bugs with upgrading units. Never saw the one you are reporting. What I would suggest is to edit your savegame. If you search in your savegame.hoi3 file, the name of those units, you'll find the a line with their strenght. Just edit that line. If you don't know which one it is, just post your file here + the names of those units. I'll help you.

I edited the savegame. Hopefully the next time I go to upgrade those particular units there won't be a problem.

Thanks for the help.

Maybe. It's a Dutch version book. I haven't started reading it yet. He said in the foreword that he was going to go from Rommel's reports and letters to his wife and reports from the OKH and similar contemporary stuff.

Been looking around forums, but can't find a straight answer: does strength and/or organisation affect air combat effects? AFAIK, effective strength affects land combat damage, but organisation does not. Does that apply to air too?

Organisation is what determines if your units stay in combat or retreat. At 0, they retreat. This is true for all units.

Strenght, as you said, affects damages. This is true for all units.

Playing as Japan, USA joined Allies and thus war with Germany in 1939. Now they have massive IC. I'm totally not ready to attack them until maybe mid-1941.

Am I screwed? It's totally my fault for puppeting China and the little Chinas (except commie and Sinkiang) but it's too late to change that now.

AI is a bit weak and not very aggressive... You have time ahead to defeat them.

I always puppet China when playing as Japan, is there much to be gained from maintaining direct control?

Annexing has drawbacks... higher Threat and more Partisan activity, for example. More troops required to guard all those extra ports.

One thing that still sometimes eludes me is the supplies system.

Let's say I am playing JAP (which as everyone knows is an island).

During my continental conquests (China, Burma, Indochina, India), a huge pile of supplies (76k+) gathers at a single port. In my latest TFH 4.02 game, it is Rangoon. I assume it's because it's a level 10 port with decent infra on spot. From that point, all my troops on Asian mainland, from Karachi (India) to Pusan (Korea) are supplied from Rangoon.

1/ Is there a way to change that port ? I would like my troops in China to be supplied from Shanghai, my troops in India from Bombay, etc. I would like to create the shortest supply routes, to avoid travel cost (because of the distance), bottlenecks (because of poor infra/jungle around Rangoon), and improve reactivity (if I drop new troops in Hong Kong, it takes forever for supply to reach them). The obvious answer should be to manually add convoy routes (Sasebo->Hong Kong, for example), but even if doing so, my troops remain supplied from Rangoon.

2/ Is there a way to retrieve the huge stock of supplies/fuel sitting in Rangoon for future conquests (on another island or continent), or are they as good as lost ?

Thank you for your insight.

Rangoon is indded one supply hub. Hubs seem to be hardcoded somewhere... so you are stuck with them. It can bring some very unexpected results from time to time.
What you can try is delete ALL your supply convoys, then reset them. You might get a different results, for the better or the worst...

If a supply glitch is making the game unplayable, it's possible to add some sneaky "Impassable" connections to the map adjacency file... to make Rangoon adjacent to Tokyo (but across an impassable border) for example. Then supplies will flow freely "overland" to Rangoon and fan out from there. You would need to save-and-reload for the edits to take effect, of course.
