Fleet composition.

I want to build CTFs as the USA, should I include Heavy Cruisers/Battleships/Battle Cruisers or will doing so make my Carriers move in close to the enemy?

I ususally go with 2-3CVs+2DDs+3Light Cruisers,That always works for me

First time playing with Germany, Semper Fi 2.04d (anyway that's what it says in the initial menu). I have observed two strange things:

1. I am allowing debts from Japan. So i start sending them 50 fuel. When they assign enough convoys i see that i have loads of money incoming from them (about +25 a day). Money they don't want to spend (because they weren't trading with me before i allowed debts). What's going on? Are they going to give me money until they are empty? And after they have 0 money will they start getting stuff for free? That's ruining their economy...

2. As expected i am involved in "ASW/convoy raiding" kind of war with the allies (including USA). I am sinking over 5-6 British convoys/escorts a day and they sink about 2 or 3 of my convoys/escorts a week! Ok, i am good i thought. But then i checked my NU. It is falling rapidly even if they are sinking only 2 convoys a week (i think my NU droped about 1% in only one or two months with maximum loses of 20 convoys/escorts). Ok, maybe it is as it is supposed to be. But then i think that the British losing so many convoys/escorts for about a year must have very low NU. I load the save as British, their NU is 81%. I press "resume" and their NU isn't dropping when the, now AI Germany's, subs sink convoys... What's happening? Why isn't their NU dropping?

Not very quick questions, but i'd love some answers!

1.sorry m8 never payd much attention into the "Allowing Debts" option so cant help you.

2.There can be alot of factors playing in here for example your NU drop might also be from British Strategic bombers against you or spies lowering neutrality,while their NU is high because they might start with high NU or using spies to raise their NU

2. Yeah, you are right, maybe my NU drops because of their strategetic bombing, but i always intercept and cause them heavy casualties, so my NU also increases...

Also there isn't a negative modifier on their NU icon (neither a positive modifier to counter the negative, as you imply) and their spies aren't raising their NU. It's just constant like nothing is happening... My point is, that i don't have a problem with their NU being high, but i have a problem with their NU being constant, unaffected by convoy loses and stategetic bombing (mine and theirs).

Well the brits never gave up hope and in real life they never lost any hope in beating the Germans so by this logic you should be happy that you can even lower some of the British NU in the game

Each one raises your practical by quite a bit, allowing you to reasearch the "faster atomic bombs" tech at a higher rate.

its been almost a year that I am on probation.
And I cant send a Moderator a pm to ask how long i am stil on probation.
And if i send a email to paradox on how long the probation is going to last i get a email back that says i have to register my game.
But i have already registerd HoI3

Hmmm... maybe there should be a ´begging for mercy´ sticky thread - you know one of those nobody ever reads (mostly not those who end up on probation, anyways). ;P

I´d vote for a general amnesty with the release of FtM tomorrow, though...

I've tried to get into this game a few times and failed. I'm trying again now that I've been told you can give the super complex military over to the AI to control. Well I just played a game as USA from 1936 and set the theaters to AI control, and when I got into the war I set them to offensive disposition and even clicked some objectives in north africa for them to attack. The problem is that they never left my american shoreline.

Why? How do I change that? I figured "AI military" meant "AI goes and kicks butt for you".

I think the army, armygroup ot theatre in question would at least need some transports attached to get the units the africa or whereever.
Maybe it will work if you transfer some troops (including their HQ's) to Africa manually and give the orders then.

And you shoul register your game (My Games at the top of the site) for many people wont answer your questions as long as you haven't verified taht you use a legal version of the game.
It's easy and it shows us which games you actually use (only HoI3 or with SF or with FtM before long).

I know, but I can't do that on this account. I'm not sweating it. If I can't figure it out now I hope it becomes more intuitive by HoI 4 or 5. There has to be a ceiling on complexity before usability starts to catch up.

As far as I am aware, there isn't one.
