One short question: Is there somewhere an indicator how many jobs my economy can theoretical offer?

At the moment im fighting a bit against unemployment but im not shure if they just swap to better jobs alls the time or i realy need more capacity for my rising population.

If you go to a state's population tab, there's a little spot detailing your total peasants and unemployed in the state. Every level of non-military building employs roughly 5k people (when you don't have automation PMs active). From there you can pretty much figure out how many more jobs your state can support, outside migration.

Yes I want to form Germany, but I lack the number of states. I thought the last few bits would willingly join, like it's written in the journal. The other elligible states are either owned by Danemark, France and Austria. You are saying I should annex some of them through war?

No, you need to have the support of nations forming the equivalent of 19 states. You don't have to own them. That was my situation:

For example, for Bavaria (did you max your relations?):

But Hamburg did not want to join:

I'm not sure what you are asking. Do you want how to know how many building levels you have total in a state ? I don't think there is a global indicator, but it's not really a very useful indication. The number of peasants and unemployed will let you know how many more buildings you can make, which has no relation to how many you already have.

Can anyone tell me the possible reason why one of undecided country with "thumb up" which also has a obligation to my country is just greyed out in a diplomatic play? I started this play knowing Spain has obligation towards me and I wanted to sway him in a war. Game does not tell me nothing more then Spain has a obligation towards me and my understanding is that that obligation should give me possibility to sway this country and not opposite.

lZSKcs.jpg

Edit: enemy just give up before war, but the question remains. And it is not the first time when i have greyed out. it looks like you can not sway someone who has obligation towards you, which is not logical :).

Okay what was happening is that they were not supporting me. I launched a play against Austria, it backed down (maybe because I swayed Russia) and I could unit, but for some reason, Baden didn't join when they are at +100...

Edit: It seems baden was a bug, I reloaded and did the exact same thing, and this time they joined bu luxembourg didn't...

Well i try to explain my little problem:

I played an relative small country (swiss) and had no peasants left but in the end always have a good number of unemployed people which gets me many radicals. I want to knew if i need to build more buildings to get more jobs or if the unemployed pops just dont work because they are going to change theire jobs or other reasons if that makes sense :)

Hi,
is there a way to change from puppet state to dominion (playing as Cape Colony)?
If so. how do I do it?
I want to annex Oranje Free State and Transvaal - and ideally reduce my payments to GB ...
Thanks!

This seems like a long shot but does anyone know how to get specific government types? For example, if I want to become a military dictatorship, how do I do that?
It depends on your laws. A military dictatorship needs presidential republic+autocracy and either mass conscription or professional army. But there are other types which might have a higher priority(e.g. "banana republic" if you have a banana plantation and a trade route which exports fruit)

Hello there!
Why can a foreign market import a certain good from me when the price is 78 at my market and their price is 61? As a result I have a huge deficit at +30% price and their price is like +1%. What I can I do to change the situation and will mercantilism help?

Do you have buildings with open jobs? Then they might not make enough money to pay the unemployed. This is especially a problem if you have social security. Or it could be that you don't have enough qualified pops. I think that's usually because of a low literacy or because the amount of unemployed+peasants is very low

This is a general problem with how trade prices are calculated. There are several huge threads discussing it :) However I don't know if Paradox considers it a bug.

One thing you could do is embargo the country that has the trade route. You can also set the trade policy for that good to "protect local supply" to put a higher tariff on it.

Seems the entire game is geared towards liberalising your country right now.

Is it even possible to keep a strong autocracy afloat politically and economically?

What if I just want to RP a comfy pacifist isolationist theocratic ethnostate?

You definitely can to a certain extent. And this extent is simply population. As an ethnostate you will not of course attract migrants, and at some point if you are succesful you will build faster than your pop naturally grow. Resources may be an other bottleneck depending on your starting position. You can mitigate it by conquest, but as an ethnostate you'll get tons of radicals from discriminated pops and you specified pacifist.

The theocracy / autocratic part should work tho I guess with the proper institutions (max police and home affair) and good SoL.

But yeah a liberal country is generally way better at the economic game. Or you play Great Qing and pop should never be a problem.
