What's the best way of starting a agrarian economy? Was thinking of playing as Russia or Brazil. When I've tried in the past I've not been able to expand my construction industry fast enough to build enough farms to clear away the peasants and so have issues later on

I have trouble keeping countries in my custom unions. I can buy them in but as soon as they can they will leave. The thing is, I'm never gonna have enough diplo mana to to seduce 8 countries in my CU (for the economic dominance objective) at once. Does anyone have tips? I'de rather avoid war. Protectorate maybe?

Actually what I'm really asking for is help for the Economic Dominance "have 8 countries in your custom union".

Has anyone seen if Ports actually *do* add to infrastructure? It says they add +5 (if fully staffed), and my Port in Hokkaido has a reported infra value of +4.5, but the State is 26/25 used, where the 25 comes from "2.00 from Coastal State, 3.00 from Base Value, 20.3 from Pops" - no mention of aforesaid port. It's been more than a week as well.

EDIT:- It appears it has to *fully* staff in order to count? Now properly reporting the additional +5.

Probably already asked : is the best move not to implement production methods that are showing a predicted "red" number?

Also, how to put these in green? Reducing the cost of input goods?
As always, it depends.

If you're implementing a new method that requires an input that the building exists but isn't hiring due to missing input, the switch is probably beneficial even when it shows values highly in the negatives. This is due to the change creating the demand, that increases hiring by the producer, that decreases cost as production picks up. I've had to do this several times as isolationist Japan. With other trade policies first set up a trade route importing the good even at a loss and then switch methods.

Also, that number only looks at the profit for that building. It is sometimes better for one building type to make a little less money as long as they stay in the green if it means other buildings increase profits more than the one loses.

It adds to infra even while half staffed. I don't have enough people in Sakhalin to fully staff the port but managed to increase infra with a half staffed one even if it doesn't show in the tool tip.

What exactly happens when you try to start the game from steam? Do you get the paradox launcher? Is there any error message?
No, nothing. I click 'play' and then a few seconds later the icon reverts to 'play', as if I did not click anything. Nothing shows up. This must be a launcher issue because I can play the game via local file, just without mods/achievements.

I have heard that there is a bug and the infrastructure from ports sometimes doesn't work until you reload the game

If the launcher doesn't even start, it is definitely a launcher issue. Does it help if you remove the following files and folders from ~/Library/Application Support/Paradox Interactive/ ?:
  • .cpatch (hidden by default)
  • launcher-v2 (all of the folders and versions)
  • bootstrapper-v2
  • ThirdPartyLicenses.txt
That should remove all launcher installations(they don't get removed if you uninstall the game) so that starting victoria 3 from steam can install a new version of the launcher.

Go to the Map Mode chooser (it’s on the far-right of the Lenses, just to the right of the Trade Lens). Select Strategic Regions. You’ll get a list of all the Strategic Regions along with who has an interest, but if you zoom close enough into the map, you’ll also get a list of who has an interest in each region and ongoing Diplomatic Plays.

Ooohhh!!! That's what it is!! I didn't zoom in! Thank you so so much!!!

I know how to see the world production of X good.
But is there a place where i can see World consumption of a good?

Its hard to find out what the world needs so i can build a export economy if i have to look inside every single market for this information.

What is your issue exactly? Compensate your lack of investment pool with high taxes and expand away your farms. If you're lacking iron you'll probably have to build it yourself, but there are usually enough tools around to sustain you really early on.

Is it possible to move a general from one HQ to another? If so, how? Sikh Empire starts with a great general, but he's in the HQ with the least amount of troops. I'd really like to move him to a better one.

I would not get my hopes up for that. If the launcher installation got broken due to a bug in the launcher, the developers would try to prevent that in the future, but if something on your system interfered with the launcher, it is unlikely to get fixed. And a fix would not help people who already have a broken launcher and such a brokenness is difficult to detect and trying this can cause problems in other cases.

I think players with problems are supposed to contact the tech support on the paradox support website.

Is there a map mode where I can what goods are being produced where?
If you open the details of a trade good, there is something on the top right where you can select if you want to see the current production or production potential for the trade good on the map
